Job DescriptionJob Title: Engineering ManagerJob Description The Engineering Manager leads a multidisciplinary engineering team within a manufacturing environment, driving safe, efficient, and high-quality production outcomes. This role combines hands-on leadership, strategic planning, and close collaboration with operations and production teams to optimize processes, support new product introductions, and enhance overall manufacturability and profitability. The Engineering Manager mentors engineers, oversees project execution, and ensures that engineering activities align with organizational goals, budgets, and timelines. Responsibilities • Lead, mentor, and develop members of the engineering team, providing guidance, feedback, and support to help them grow professionally., • Assign engineering work, monitor performance, and deliver coaching and professional development opportunities to ensure high-quality output., • Promote core company values and a culture of accountability throughout the engineering department., • Ensure all engineering activities are completed safely, on schedule, within quality expectations, and in accordance with budget requirements., • Develop short-term and long-term engineering strategies that align with broader organizational objectives., • Provide regular project, schedule, compliance, and budget updates to senior leadership, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation plans., • Partner closely with operations, production, and management teams to support ongoing manufacturing activities and resolve technical issues., • Evaluate manufacturing capabilities and resource requirements to improve production outcomes and optimize utilization of equipment and personnel., • Ensure operational teams have timely access to technical expertise and engineering support needed to achieve production goals., • Lead initiatives focused on manufacturing process improvements, including conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions., • Assess customer designs and recommend changes to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, and increase production efficiency., • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles when evaluating products, components, and processes., • Direct engineering efforts related to Bills of Material (BOMs) and Bills of Operations (BOOs) to support accurate planning and production., • Drive value stream optimization initiatives to enhance throughput, reduce waste, and improve overall profitability., • Estimate engineering labor requirements and project costs to support quoting, resource planning, and project scheduling activities., • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support customer programs and new product launches from concept through production., • Oversee the successful transfer of new products, technologies, and manufacturing processes into production operations, ensuring readiness and stability., • Support the development and maintenance of standards, procedures, and best practices for engineering and manufacturing processes., • Champion continuous improvement initiatives and modern engineering practices to enhance safety, quality, and operational effectiveness.Essential Skills, • 5+ years of experience leading engineers in a manufacturing setting., • Proven experience in engineering management within a production or fabrication environment., • SolidWorks design knowledge, including 3D solid modeling and CAD-based design., • Experience with ISO standards and their application in engineering and manufacturing., • Knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication processes., • Experience working in a fabrication machine shop environment., • Strong blueprint interpretation capabilities to support design review and manufacturing activities., • Experience developing designs and models using CAD and 3D solid modeling software, with SolidWorks preferred., • Knowledge of manufacturing process development with a focus on employee safety and operational effectiveness., • Advanced analytical and troubleshooting abilities, including leading root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives., • Experience evaluating and implementing modern engineering practices, technologies, and design methodologies., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook., • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines., • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration., • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence across all organizational levels., • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity., • Background in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and cost reduction initiatives., • Familiarity with value stream mapping and profitability improvement projects., • Experience supporting new product introductions and technology transfers into production., • Comfort presenting project updates and technical information to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.Work Environment This role operates within a fast-paced manufacturing environment that includes sheet metal, fabrication, and machine shop operations. The Engineering Manager works closely with operations, production, and cross-functional teams on the shop floor and in an office setting. The position requires regular use of CAD and 3D modeling tools such as SolidWorks, as well as standard business applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The work involves balancing strategic planning with hands-on problem solving, supporting multiple projects and priorities under defined timelines. Safety, quality, and operational effectiveness are central to daily activities, and the environment emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement, and clear communication across all levels of the organization.
