Job DescriptionHandyman Job Type: Full-Time Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (40 hours per week) Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and reliable Apartment Handyman to perform general maintenance, repairs, preventive maintenance, unit turns, and property upkeep across apartment communities. The ideal candidate will have experience with carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, painting, drywall, landscaping, and general apartment maintenance. This position requires a hands-on professional who takes pride in their work, delivers excellent customer service, and can work independently while maintaining safe and well-kept properties. Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral Responsibilities • Serve as a field representative of the maintenance team., • Maintain a professional appearance and provide excellent customer service to residents and vendors., • Document completed work, purchases, travel, incidents, and maintenance activities accurately and promptly., • Participate in an on-call rotation, including evenings and weekends, for emergency maintenance situations., • Promote a safe, clean, and welcoming environment throughout all assigned properties., • Travel between assigned apartment communities as needed.Maintenance & Repair Responsibilities, • Complete routine, emergency, and turnover maintenance for apartment units and common areas., • Perform carpentry, drywall repair, painting, flooring repairs, door and lock repairs, and general handyman work., • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing fixtures, appliances, and minor electrical issues., • Assist with renovation projects, remodels, and capital improvement projects., • Maintain building systems and mechanical equipment in safe working condition., • Inspect properties and identify maintenance needs before they become larger issues., • Perform grounds maintenance, landscaping, and exterior property upkeep., • Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow all safety guidelines., • Maintain clean and organized maintenance shops, storage areas, and workspaces., • Adjust work schedules as necessary to accommodate inspections, vendor appointments, emergencies, and special projects., • Perform regular janitorial duties, including:, • Cleaning common areas, • Removing litter and debris from property grounds, • Sweeping and blowing walkways and curbs, • Preparing trash and recycling containers for scheduled pickupAdministrative Responsibilities, • Obtain bids and coordinate outside contractors when required., • Maintain detailed records of maintenance requests, inspections, incidents, and completed work orders., • Work closely with property management staff to ensure resident needs are addressed promptly., • Complete inspection reports and maintenance documentation accurately and on time., • Prioritize work orders to minimize vacancies and prevent property damage., • Order maintenance supplies and equipment within budget guidelines., • Submit expense reports as required., • Complete assigned training programs and safety certifications., • Monitor and respond to work-related emails daily., • Participate in regular meetings and supervisor check-ins., • Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications, • At least 2 years of apartment maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or handyman experience., • Knowledge of carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, electrical fixtures, appliances, locks, doors, and flooring repairs., • Ability to diagnose and complete general maintenance repairs independently., • Access to a vehicle and basic hand tools., • Ability to work with diverse residents, coworkers, and contractors., • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English., • Basic computer skills, including email and work-order management systems.Preferred Qualifications, • Washington State Labor & Industries 07-B Residential Electrical Maintenance Certification., • Apartment maintenance certification or trade certifications., • Experience working in multifamily housing.Requirements, • Reliable transportation., • Valid Washington State driver's license., • Ability to maintain required automobile liability insurance., • Ability to pass a motor vehicle record check.Physical Requirements, • Lift and carry maintenance equipment, tools, and materials., • Climb ladders and work at varying heights., • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding tasks., • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
