Job DescriptionJob Title: Senior Laboratory Technician – 3rd ShiftJob Description This role offers the opportunity to work as a Senior laboratory technician on the 3rd shift, performing analytical testing and data review using GC/MS and LC/MS/MS instrumentation. You will follow established Standard Operating Procedures, ensure accurate sample processing, and support high-quality, reliable laboratory results while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. Responsibilities • Read, understand, and strictly follow written Standard Operating Procedures for all assigned assays and processes., • Correctly identify analyzed samples and verify the accuracy and order of the sequence for each batch., • Process acquired instrument data from GC/MS and LC/MS/MS systems and generate appropriate analytical reports., • Conduct the first review of GC/MS and/or LC/MS/MS analytical data in accordance with each assay-specific SOP., • Transcribe or upload test results into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for final review and certification., • Maintain proper and complete Chain of Custody documentation for all batches to ensure traceability and compliance., • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding daily activities, findings, and issues., • Promptly escalate emerging challenges, anomalies, or equipment issues to supervisory staff for timely resolution., • Maintain and promote a safe and healthful environment for self and co-workers by following all laboratory safety procedures., • Work collaboratively with other laboratory staff to support efficient workflow and consistent quality of results.Essential Skills, • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, or a closely related scientific field., • At least one year of experience working in an analytical laboratory environment., • Ability to work safely with biological specimens, chemicals, laboratory equipment, and analytical instruments., • Proficiency in following detailed written Standard Operating Procedures., • Experience with analytical techniques such as GC/MS and/or LC/MS/MS, including data acquisition and review., • Strong attention to detail for accurate sample identification, sequence verification, and documentation., • Ability to accurately transcribe or upload analytical results into a Laboratory Information System (LIS)., • Effective communication skills to interact with supervisors and team members and escalate issues promptly., • Commitment to maintaining proper Chain of Custody documentation and regulatory compliance.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previously demonstrated laboratory experience beyond the minimum requirement is preferred., • Familiarity with handling and processing biological specimens in a regulated laboratory setting., • Comfort working with complex analytical instruments and related software systems., • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple batches and maintain comprehensive documentation., • Ability to work independently during overnight hours while supporting a team-based laboratory environment.Work Environment This position is a 3rd shift role with scheduled hours from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. You will work in an analytical laboratory environment that uses GC/MS and LC/MS/MS instrumentation, laboratory information systems (LIS), and standard laboratory equipment. The work involves handling biological specimens and chemicals, requiring adherence to laboratory safety procedures, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and compliance with Chain of Custody and documentation standards. The environment emphasizes safety, accuracy, and collaboration among laboratory professionals to ensure reliable test results and a healthful workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Santa Rosa, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $22.50/hr.
