Details\n \n • 13-week travel contract at a 444-bed academic teaching hospital with a Level III NICU and Level IV Perinatal Center\n, • Primary unit is the Nursing Float Pool, with assignments covering NICU, PICU, PCICU, General Pediatrics, and ER across two campuses (Oak Lawn and Park Ridge)\n, • NICU accommodates 61 beds with patient types including premature, neuro, GI, and feeder/grower neonates; PICU handles 24 beds with intubated, post-surgical, respiratory failure, and neuro patients; PCICU covers 16 beds with complex cardiac cases including Norwood, truncus, TAPVR, HLHS, and valve replacement patients (no transplants)\n, • General Pediatrics serves patients neonate–18 years with hematology, oncology, and post-surgical cases; ER covers 22 beds for patients neonate–18 years\n, • Patient ratios: NICU 1:2, PICU 1:2, PCICU 1:2, Gen Peds 1:3–4, ER 1:3–4\n, • 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)\n, • Scheduling runs on a 6-week cycle with every-other-weekend rotation\n, • Float assignments are bi-campus and may include PICU, PCICU, NICU, and General Pediatrics at both Oak Lawn and Park Ridge locations\n, • Assignments are posted 90–120 minutes prior to shift start\n, • EMR: Epic (experience required)\n, • IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis; monitors: Med Sonic\n Requirements\n \n, • Active Illinois RN license required\n, • Current certifications required: BLS, PALS, and NRP\n, • Minimum 2 years of NICU or relevant pediatric nursing experience required, with most recent experience within the last year\n, • Epic EMR experience required\n, • Proficiency with trach management, mechanical ventilators, chest tubes, Foley catheters, surgical drains, arterial lines, CVLs, blood draws, IV starts, traction, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, oscillators, central lines, dressing changes, heliox, and nitric respiratory support\n, • Experience managing drips including Fentanyl, Propofol, Precedex, Epinephrine, and Levophoedrine\n, • Ability to travel between two campuses (Oak Lawn and Park Ridge) as required\n, • One professional reference from within the past year required, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN\n, • Candidate DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration\n Additional Information\n \n, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply\n, • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before being eligible for a travel assignment\n, • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictions\n, • Departmental orientation includes NEO training plus 2 days of departmental orientation in PICU/PCICU\n, • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays; all RTO requests must go through the manager\n, • Support staff includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, a charge nurse per department, an IV/VAT team, phlebotomy, resource nurses (based on staffing/acuity), and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage\n, • Required scrub color: Navy\n, • Free parking is available on site\n, • Unit culture is described as teamwork-oriented and friendly\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-731729.
