Job Description Job Title: Carpenter Job Description This role focuses on commercial, new-construction carpentry work, including building and installing safety railings. You will perform a variety of hands-on tasks on an active construction project, using hand tools and power tools to complete carpentry, installation, and site preparation activities while maintaining a clean and safe work area. Responsibilities • Build and install basic carpentry structures such as railings and stairs on a commercial, new-construction job site., • Put up netting and install, adjust, and remove handrails as needed throughout the project., • Use a variety of hand tools and power tools, including drills and other carpentry equipment, in a safe and efficient manner., • Chip and remove concrete where necessary to support carpentry and installation work., • Read and interpret a tape measure accurately and apply measurements to cutting, fitting, and installation tasks., • Follow blueprints and construction plans to ensure correct layout, alignment, and installation of carpentry elements., • Maintain a clean and organized work area by removing debris, moving materials, and assisting with general site cleanup., • Handle and move construction materials safely around the job site to support ongoing work., • Adhere to safety practices and guidelines on a commercial construction site, including OSHA standards and site-specific rules., • Demonstrate reliable attendance and performance to support the potential continuation of this open-ended contract assignment. Essential Skills • At least 3 years of carpentry experience, preferably in a commercial, new-construction environment., • Proficiency in general woodworking and basic carpentry techniques, including building and assembling structural and finish components., • Ability to use a wide range of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively, including drills and other carpentry equipment., • Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure for cutting, fitting, and installation tasks., • Basic blueprint reading skills to follow construction plans and layout requirements., • Familiarity with OSHA safety practices and construction site safety standards., • Physical ability to perform hands-on carpentry tasks, including lifting materials, standing for extended periods, and working with tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is not required but is a strong plus., • Comfort working in an active healthcare facility construction environment., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality carpentry work., • Reliability and consistency in attendance and performance to support an open-ended contract opportunity. Tools are provided for the role, and you are expected to bring your own basic hand tools. The environment involves typical construction site conditions, including noise, dust, and physical activity, and requires readiness to work with materials, tools, and other trades throughout the day. The assignment begins as a one-week contract with the potential to continue based on performance, offering an open-ended project opportunity in a structured, daytime schedule.
