Job DescriptionJob Title: Picker and Packer / Material Handler Job Description This role combines picker and packer duties with material handling responsibilities in a clean, bright, and well-organized warehouse environment. You accurately select, inspect, and pack customer orders for shipment while also handling, moving, and organizing materials using equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. You help maintain accurate inventory records, support production and shipping activities, and ensure products move efficiently and safely through the facility. Responsibilities • Accurately pick customer orders by working from pick lists and retrieving products from designated storage locations., • Use RF scanners to locate, scan, and verify items, ensuring that all products match order specifications., • Inspect products for damages, defects, or incorrect items before packing to maintain quality standards., • Pack items securely for shipment using pallets, containers, and appropriate packing and wrapping materials., • Seal, label, and weigh packages accurately to prepare them for shipping., • Log completed orders in inventory systems to keep inventory data accurate and up to date., • Report product shortages, inventory discrepancies, or damaged items to supervisors promptly., • Unload incoming shipments and transport materials to appropriate storage or production areas., • Load and unload materials and products safely using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment., • Stack and organize materials in designated storage locations to maximize warehouse space and maintain order., • Scan and label materials accurately and record data in inventory systems to support tracking and traceability., • Inspect incoming shipments for damage and verify contents against purchase orders before accepting materials., • Pack and stage outgoing products for shipment or transfer according to established procedures., • Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds on a daily basis while following safe lifting practices., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following housekeeping and safety guidelines., • Collaborate with team members and follow instructions from supervisors to meet productivity and quality goals.Essential Skills, • At least 6 months of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or similar environment., • At least 6 months of experience working in a warehouse setting., • Experience with picking and packing orders using pick lists., • Ability to use RF scanners for locating, scanning, and verifying inventory., • Proficiency in basic material handling tasks such as loading, unloading, transporting, and stacking materials., • Experience operating pallet jacks and other common warehouse equipment., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and perform physically active work throughout the shift., • Strong attention to detail when inspecting products, verifying orders, and updating inventory records., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and consistently., • Reliable work history demonstrating consistency and commitment, without frequent short-term job changes.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new tasks and processes., • Friendly and cooperative demeanor that supports a team-oriented environment., • Coachable mindset and openness to feedback and ongoing training., • Basic familiarity with packaging, labeling, and shipping practices., • Comfort working with inventory systems and basic data entry for logging orders and materials.Why Work Here? Work Environment You work in a clean, bright, and well-lit shop environment designed to support safe and efficient warehouse operations. The facility uses RF scanners, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other standard material handling equipment. Multiple shifts are available, including a first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., a second shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., and a Sunday-based third shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Occasional Saturday overtime may be offered on a voluntary basis. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Farmington, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.90/hr.
