Job DescriptionJob Title: Material Handler Job Description The Material Handler accurately processes and prepares outbound shipments, with a primary focus on kitting work. This role works at a designated workstation to assemble kits, process orders according to the manifest, and ensure that all shipping activities are completed efficiently and correctly using computer-based systems and major carrier platforms. Responsibilities • Perform kitting work by assembling, organizing, and preparing materials according to detailed manifests and order requirements., • Work at a dedicated workstation to process orders accurately and in a timely manner., • Use computer systems to enter, review, and update shipping, receiving, and inventory data., • Prepare shipments using FedEx and UPS systems, including generating labels, documentation, and tracking information., • Handle purchase orders (POs) and ensure correct association of materials with the appropriate orders., • Palletize materials and finished kits for shipment or storage in a safe and organized manner., • Support general shipping and receiving activities, including checking in materials and verifying documentation., • Operate a sit-down forklift and other material handling equipment, as required, to move, load, and unload materials., • Follow established procedures and quality standards to ensure accuracy and completeness of all shipments., • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area at the workstation, in shipping/receiving areas, and around material storage locations., • Collaborate with team members and other departments to resolve issues related to orders, materials, or shipping., • Adhere to all safety protocols and use required vision-related precautions and checks associated with the work area.Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of experience working with FedEx shipping systems., • Experience working with UPS shipping systems., • Proficiency using a computer for data entry, documentation, and shipping system operations., • At least 6 months of experience in kitting or working as a warehouse worker., • Ability to perform accurate data entry related to shipping, receiving, and inventory., • Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse or distribution environment., • Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely and effectively., • Capability to read and follow manifests, work orders, and purchase orders., • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order processing and kitting., • Reliable adherence to a Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. schedule., • Ability to meet vision requirements associated with the specific work area.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with international shipping (6 months or more) is a plus but not required., • Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems., • Experience with palletizing materials for shipment or storage., • Background in shipping, receiving, and general warehouse operations., • Ability to work both independently at a workstation and collaboratively within a team., • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple orders and tasks efficiently.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based within an industrial facility that supports manufacturing operations. You will primarily work at a workstation performing kitting and order processing tasks, while also moving throughout shipping and receiving areas as needed. The environment involves regular use of computers, SAP or similar software, and carrier platforms such as FedEx and UPS. Material handling equipment, including sit-down forklifts, is used to move and stage pallets and materials. The position follows a Tuesday through Saturday schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The work area includes specific vision-related requirements due to the nature of the tasks performed. The facility operates as a typical warehouse and production support environment, with a focus on safety, organization, and adherence to established procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of East Hartford, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.41 - $23.41/hr.
