Job DescriptionJob Title: Custodian / Janitorial SpecialistJob Description This custodial role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly facility, including both warehouse and office areas. The position involves extensive trash removal, cleaning, and sanitizing throughout the building and grounds. You will spend most of your day on your feet, actively working across the facility to support a high standard of cleanliness and organization. Responsibilities • Remove trash and garbage from the facility, including gathering trash from floors, workstations, and common areas throughout the warehouse and office spaces., • Collect and dispose of cardboard boxes, plastic wrapping, and other packaging materials, and load and unload trash into dumpsters., • Take trash from small cans and consolidate it into larger receptacles before transporting it to dumpsters., • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, floors, and other fixtures, ensuring a hygienic environment., • Clean cafeteria, break rooms, kitchen areas, offices, and common spaces, including wiping tables, desks, and workstations., • Sweep and mop hallways and common floors to maintain a clean and safe walking surface., • Clean interior windows and glass surfaces to maintain a neat and professional appearance throughout the facility., • Remove wrapping papers and debris from workstations and load them into appropriate containers for disposal., • Work both indoors and outdoors, including taking trash to dumpsters and cleaning the parking lot and exterior areas as needed., • Follow work orders and cleaning schedules to ensure all assigned areas and tasks are completed thoroughly and on time., • Remain actively engaged and busy at all times, minimizing downtime while on the floor and maintaining productivity throughout the shift., • Lift, carry, and move boxes, trash bags, and other materials repeatedly throughout the day as part of regular cleaning and disposal activities.Essential Skills, • At least 5 years of custodial or janitorial experience in environments requiring constant movement and physical activity., • Strong desire to continue working and growing within the custodial field., • Hands-on experience with cleaning, mopping, sweeping, and sanitizing a variety of surfaces and areas., • Ability to follow work orders, instructions, and cleaning schedules accurately and consistently., • Capability to lift and unload boxes, trash, and other materials throughout the day., • Comfort working on your feet all day in a physically demanding role., • Reliability and commitment to staying busy and productive with minimal supervision.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working in warehouse or large facility environments is beneficial., • Familiarity with proper trash handling and disposal procedures, including loading and unloading dumpsters., • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions as part of regular duties., • Attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness in bathrooms, kitchen areas, offices, and common spaces., • Strong work ethic and consistency in following established cleaning standards and procedures.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a large facility that includes both warehouse and office areas. You will move throughout the entire building and surrounding grounds, spending the majority of the day on your feet removing trash, cleaning surfaces, and maintaining overall cleanliness. The work is physically demanding and involves frequent lifting of boxes and trash bags, unloading materials into dumpsters, and working both indoors and outdoors, including trips to the parking lot and dumpster areas. Steel-toe shoes are required for safety. The dress code requires blue or black bottoms and a blue or black non-logoed shirt, paired with slip-resistant footwear such as sneakers, work boots, or soft-soled shoes. Jeans, midriff shirts, hats, sweatpants, leggings, jeggings, and capris are not permitted, and non-compliance with the dress code may result in being sent home. The environment is fast-paced, and you are expected to stay busy at all times, avoid creating downtime on the floor, and maintain a professional appearance while working. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of bedford park, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
