Job Description Job Title: Forklift Operator Job Description As a Forklift operator, you will play a key role in supporting seed production operations by using SAP/R3 and other computerized systems to manage data, materials, and workflow. You will operate a variety of production equipment, help organize sampling materials and documentation, and participate in activities such as seed sampling, conditioning, treating, packaging, and warehousing. This position offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced agricultural production environment where accuracy, safety, and teamwork are essential. Responsibilities • Utilize SAP/R3 and related systems as a core tool for performing daily job functions., • Perform accurate and timely data entry to support production and inventory tracking., • Operate production equipment including auto punchers, auto staplers, tag cutting machines, and other machinery as needed., • Organize and maintain sampling materials and related documentation to support quality and compliance requirements., • Input and inventory direct materials consumed during production processes to ensure proper stock control., • Participate in production activities including seasonal preparation, seed sampling, truck unloading, conditioning, treating, packaging, rework, product return, and sorting., • Use automation and computerized systems, including computers and iPads, to execute work tasks and follow production workflows., • Engage in warehousing activities such as delivery organization, inventory control, and quality checks on incoming and outgoing materials., • Lift, move, and manage bulk recycled storage containers (soft-sided) and other production materials as required., • Operate hand scanners and RF scanners for seed processing and inventory tracking, and assist Pit Operators with related tasks., • Work effectively in a high-throughput production environment, maintaining focus and productivity under varying indoor and outdoor conditions., • Perform repetitive motion work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for the duration of the shift, and handling materials throughout the day., • Follow established safety procedures and use provided personal protective equipment while working in dusty, loud, and dirty conditions., • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors, providing updates on work status and any issues that arise., • Work both independently and as part of a small team, contributing to a cooperative and respectful work atmosphere., • Multitask and prioritize work assignments to meet production schedules and quality standards., • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work area in accordance with continuous improvement and 5S principles., • Support overtime and occasional weekend work as needed to meet production demands, including extended shifts and Saturday mornings., • Demonstrate initiative, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn new processes and expand your scope of responsibilities. Essential Skills • Experience using SAP/R3 or similar enterprise resource planning systems for production or inventory tasks., • High School Diploma or GED., • At least 1 year of education and/or experience in operations, manufacturing, agriculture, or warehousing., • At least 1 year of production or labor experience in a manufacturing, agricultural, or similar environment., • Strong computer skills in common desktop productivity applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access., • Ability to complete repetitive work while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail, with 1+ year of experience in repetitive tasks., • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to lift up to 30 lbs repetitively, stand for the duration of the shift, and perform frequent bending and reaching., • Capability to work in warm, dusty, and sometimes dirty environments, including areas with cold storage in different departments., • Ability to multitask, organize workload effectively, and maintain an orderly workspace., • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively within a team., • Stable work history that demonstrates reliability, commitment, and consistent performance., • Strong initiative, a willingness to work hard, and an eagerness to learn and adapt to new processes. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working in office, laboratory, or production plant environments., • Knowledge of lean Six Sigma methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S, Continuous Improvement, and Standardized Work., • Familiarity with cleanroom procedures, packaging, production line work, packing, cleaning, and general labor tasks., • Experience in farm work, general production, machine operation, or inventory control., • Experience using RF scanners and hand scanners for inventory management and production tracking., • Desire to learn new processes, take on additional responsibilities, and expand your scope of work over time.
