Job Description Facilities Maintenance Technician / Operating Engineer -Des Moines, Iowa - Located in the Downtown Area -Job Description: Join a team responsible for maintaining a large, modern commercial office facility. In this role, you'll perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot building systems, and respond to repairs involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and general facility equipment. This is a hands-on position for an experienced maintenance professional who enjoys problem-solving and keeping critical building systems operating safely and efficiently. -Responsibilities/Job Duties • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and mechanical systems., • Diagnose and repair building equipment, responding to work orders and service requests., • Inspect facility systems and identify maintenance or safety concerns., • Maintain HVAC equipment by changing filters, replacing belts, cleaning coils, and troubleshooting system issues., • Repair and replace lighting fixtures, ballasts, and lamps., • Document completed work and manage work orders using a CMMS platform (Corrigo or similar)., • Read blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment specifications., • Assist with building automation systems and energy management controls. -Qualifications • 5+ years of commercial facilities maintenance experience., • Strong HVAC troubleshooting and repair experience., • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building systems., • Experience using CMMS software to manage maintenance work orders., • Ability to read blueprints and technical documentation., • Valid driver's license., • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs., work from ladders, and perform duties at heights. -Preferred Qualifications • Stationary Engineer License or related mechanical certification., • EPA 608 Universal Certification., • Experience with building automation systems (BAS)., • Electrical, plumbing, or trade certifications., • OSHA 10 certification., • Experience in large commercial or multi-tenant office buildings. -Why Join Us? • Work in one of the area's largest and most modern office facilities., • Stable, long-term opportunity with a consistent first-shift schedule., • Collaborative team environment with opportunities for growth., • Free onsite parking., • Direct impact on building operations and occupant comfort. -Work Environment • Large downtown commercial office building., • Monday-Friday, approximately 6:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., • Work includes mechanical rooms, rooftops, and occupied office spaces., • Exposure to varying temperatures and occasional work at heights., • Daily interaction with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and automation systems. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Des Moines, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.00 - $31.00/hr.
