Job DescriptionJob Title: Assembly MechanicJob Description The Assembly Mechanic builds and assembles mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components for paving and construction equipment in a clean, modern manufacturing environment. This role focuses on custom equipment assembly based on blueprints and schematics, precise use and calibration of torque tools, and thorough inspection to ensure all equipment meets shop standards. You work closely with a team, support personnel, and occasionally vendors to resolve discrepancies and keep production on schedule. Responsibilities • Build and assemble mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components for paving and construction equipment according to blueprint and schematic specifications., • Assemble frames, build axles, and install motors, air conditioning systems, and electrical harnesses on custom equipment., • Use a variety of hand and power tools, including click wrenches, torque wrenches, ratchets, pneumatic pulse tools, pneumatic tools with stall bars, nutrunners, and DC electric wrenches., • Calibrate tools and fixtures as needed to ensure accurate torque and proper operation during assembly., • Apply extensive use of pneumatic pulse equipment to achieve correct torque on all required components., • Work with hoses, port fittings, jam nuts, pipe threads, non-ferrous fittings, A/C fittings, special torque applications, and bulkhead fittings during assembly., • Inspect all assembled equipment to ensure it conforms to established shop standards and quality requirements., • Collaborate effectively in a team environment and interact with engineering, purchasing, and other support personnel to resolve technical and parts-related issues., • Coordinate work to meet changing production schedules and adjust priorities as needed to support on-time completion., • Identify and communicate discrepancies in assembly processes, bills of materials (B.O.M.), parts shortages, and safety concerns, and relay information for correction., • Work with vendors and suppliers as needed to address parts discrepancies and ensure proper components are available., • Follow established procedures, manuals, and safety guidelines while maintaining a high level of workmanship and attention to detail.Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of experience in heavy equipment assembly or as a mechanic, preferably in automotive, aviation, or military environments., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and schematics for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems., • Ability to understand and assemble hydraulic and electrical components accurately and safely., • Basic understanding of torque patterns and their application in mechanical assembly., • Technical understanding of torque concepts, O-rings, and the metric system., • Experience using torque tools such as click wrenches, torque wrenches, nutrunners, and pneumatic pulse tools., • Hands-on mechanical skills in assembly, installation, and repair of equipment and components., • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds as part of regular job duties., • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team, frequently partnering with another individual in a shared work cell.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Completion of an automotive technology degree, even with limited or no professional experience, is considered., • Certified trade school training or a degree in a related technical or mechanical field is a plus., • Experience in automotive, diesel, truck equipment, construction equipment, or aircraft mechanical work., • Background in preventive maintenance, repair, and mechanical troubleshooting., • Familiarity with sheet metal work and mechanical assembly in a production environment., • Comfort using a wide range of hand tools and power tools for assembly and installation., • Experience working with hydraulics, diesel engines, hydraulic pumps, and related systems., • Ability to follow manuals and technical documentation to perform assembly and installation tasks., • Exposure to auto body shop, automotive industry, or car detail environments is beneficial.Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MINNEAPOLIS, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr.
