Job Description Job Title: Cook The cook accurately and efficiently prepares, portions, cooks, and presents a wide variety of hot and cold food items for multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, and special or catered events. This role supports both day-to-day food service operations and high-volume catering or banquet functions, ensuring consistent quality, taste, and presentation while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment. Responsibilities • Prepare, portion, and cook a variety of hot and cold food items for breakfast, lunch, and special or catered events., • Accurately follow recipes and production guidelines to ensure consistent quality, flavor, and presentation of all menu items., • Perform hot food preparation tasks such as grilling, steaming, sautéing, baking, and roasting fish, chicken, meat, and other proteins., • Perform cold food preparation tasks including mixing, chopping, slicing, and assembling salads, sandwiches, and other cold items., • Set up, operate, and break down tray lines and service lines to support efficient meal service., • Use knives and all kitchen equipment safely and effectively for food production and service., • Support catering and banquet operations by preparing and presenting food for events in a fast-paced, high-volume environment., • Monitor inventory levels, assist with inventory control, and communicate product needs or shortages as required., • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment and ensure all items are properly cleaned, sanitized, and stored., • Clean and maintain workstations, food preparation areas, and kitchen equipment to meet sanitation and safety standards., • Work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure timely and efficient food production and service., • Follow instructions from supervisors and adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and workplace policies., • Assist with general kitchen duties as needed, including restocking, organizing, and supporting other team members during peak periods. Essential Skills • Proven ability to perform both hot and cold food preparation, including cooking fish, chicken, and meat., • Strong knife skills with the ability to chop, slice, and portion ingredients safely and efficiently., • Ability to follow recipes accurately and maintain consistent food quality and presentation., • Experience using a variety of kitchen equipment, including grills, steamers, ovens, and other cooking tools., • Demonstrated capability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment., • Experience with catering or banquet cooking and high-volume food production., • Ability to perform dishwashing duties and maintain clean workstations and equipment., • Basic inventory control skills, including monitoring stock and assisting with product rotation., • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with kitchen staff., • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to food safety and sanitation standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in hospitality, food production, or similar culinary environments., • Experience working on tray lines or in institutional or large-scale food service settings., • Flexibility to support a variety of tasks, including line cooking, prep work, dishwashing, and catering support., • Comfort working in a unionized environment and following established procedures and guidelines. Work Environment This role is based in a professional kitchen environment that supports daily meal service and large-scale catered or banquet events. Standard shifts include a 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. schedule, with additional requirements during football weeks when games may require 10–12-hour shifts. There is also an available shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The kitchen operates at a fast pace and uses a full range of commercial cooking equipment, including grills, steamers, ovens, and dishwashing machines. Team members work closely together in a structured, union environment, with an emphasis on cleanliness, safety, and efficient food production. Appropriate kitchen attire, including non-slip footwear and protective gear as required, is expected to ensure a safe and professional workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.25 - $17.10/hr.
