Job Description Job Title: Test Technician / Quality Control Job Description This role focuses on inspecting and testing mechanical, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic assemblies to ensure products meet defined customer and internal specifications. You work in a job shop–oriented environment with multiple product types, using a variety of tools and test equipment to verify product performance, document findings, and support production schedules. The position is ideal for someone who is eager to deepen their technical knowledge, contribute to continuous improvement, and maintain high standards of quality and safety. Responsibilities • Inspect products to verify visual compliance with customer and company specifications., • Perform functional testing of products against defined test criteria using appropriate instruments and fixtures., • Utilize hand and power tools, as well as electronic and pneumatic testing fixtures and devices, to complete inspections and tests., • Complete department work assignments accurately and in a timely manner to support production schedules., • Create clear rework instructions or redlined documentation when nonconformances are identified, and communicate corrective actions to the appropriate parties., • Shift work assignment priorities as needed and as directed to respond to changing production and testing needs., • Maintain organized tools, equipment, and a clean, orderly workstation to support safety and efficiency., • Perform assembly, wiring, and testing tasks as needed to support product build and verification., • Document inspection findings, test results, and corrective actions, including writing Certificates of Conformance (C of C) and technical reports based on collected data., • Gather and analyze data from tests and inspections, and enter results into templates or systems for reporting and traceability., • Conduct pneumatic testing and testing with automatic test equipment as required by product and process specifications., • Troubleshoot issues identified during inspection or testing and collaborate with engineering to resolve technical problems., • Inspect incoming materials and components to ensure they meet quality standards before use in production., • Read and interpret Bills of Materials, drawings, sketches, schematics, and test instructions to perform accurate assembly and testing., • Communicate effectively with engineers and other team members regarding product issues, test results, and process improvements., • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall quality and production objectives. Essential Skills • Good mechanical assembly aptitude with 1–2 years of progressive assembly experience and moderate knowledge of hand and power tools., • 2-year technical degree in a relevant field (such as electrical or electronics) or equivalent technical experience that goes beyond simple part replacement and includes understanding root causes of issues., • At least 2 years of experience performing electrical testing with test instruments, or no degree with 5 years of technical experience., • Experience with mechanical assembly that infers exposure to electrical systems and components., • Proficiency using hand and power tools in an assembly and test environment., • Ability to read and interpret electrical and electronic blueprints, schematics, diagrams, drawings, sketches, and Bills of Materials., • Ability to perform assembly, wiring, and testing tasks as needed to support product build and verification., • Experience with pneumatics and electrical testing, including pneumatic testing and testing with automatic test equipment., • Ability to document inspection findings, create redlines, and communicate corrections clearly and accurately., • Strong hand–eye coordination to perform precise assembly and inspection tasks., • Good understanding of the English language with the ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal forms., • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience., • 3–5 years of successful Test Technician experience, including inspection of materials and components and gathering test data., • Ability to read schematics and drawings and apply them to practical testing and troubleshooting., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities., • Computer proficiency, including experience with Excel and general data entry, navigation, and technical reporting from data sets., • Experience using ERP systems for data entry, tracking, or reporting., • Ability to perform data entry, organize information, and generate technical reports using existing templates., • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers regarding test results, issues, and corrective actions. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working around high voltage equipment (approximately 240V), whether through testing devices and equipment, performing maintenance or repair, or supporting installations., • Experience performing testing to standards such as ANSI and ISO 9001 or other ISO standards., • Familiarity with testing circuits, high current applications, and engineering drawings., • Experience in quality assurance and quality control, including product inspection and compliance verification., • Experience with CDA testing and other specialized test methods as required., • Ability to write Certificates of Conformance (C of C) and other quality documentation., • Comfort working in a job shop–oriented environment with multiple product types and changing priorities., • Exposure to products or equipment from major industrial and scientific manufacturers (e.g., semiconductor or biosciences equipment) is beneficial., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in maintaining tools, equipment, documentation, and data., • Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and contribute to continuous improvement of testing and inspection processes. Work Environment The role is based in a production and test environment with job shop characteristics, where you work on multiple product types and use a range of tools, test fixtures, and electronic and pneumatic devices. The physical demands include occasionally standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle objects and tools, reaching with hands and arms, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, tasting, or smelling. You may occasionally lift and move up to 20 pounds, and the position requires close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing duties, you may be exposed to prevailing weather conditions when moving between areas, and the noise level is usually minimal. The standard shift for this role runs from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., providing a consistent second-shift schedule in a structured, safety-conscious environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $29.00/hr.
