Gear Cutter / Thread and Worm Grinder – Day and Night Shifts are available \n Job Summary \n We are seeking a skilled and motivated Gear Cutter / Thread and Worm Grinder to join our precision engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing and finishing high-precision gears, worms, and threaded components using a range of specialist CNC and manual grinding and gear cutting machines. The role requires a strong understanding of engineering drawings, precision measurement, and maintaining high quality standards. \n Key Responsibilities: \n\n • Set up and operate Gleason P60 and Gleason P90 gear cutting machines.\n, • Set up and operate Doimak Thread and Worm Grinders.\n, • Operate Matrix Thread Grinders to produce precision threaded components.\n, • Use a variety of conventional / manual machine tools as required.\n, • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.\n, • Produce gears, worms, and threaded components to tight tolerances.\n, • Select and dress grinding wheels where required.\n, • Perform in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment, including micrometres, verniers, bore gauges, and thread measuring instruments.\n, • Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish to customer specifications.\n, • Carry out routine machine maintenance and keep equipment clean and serviceable.\n, • Identify and resolve machining issues to maximise productivity and quality.\n, • Work in accordance with company quality procedures and health and safety requirements.\n, • Maintain accurate production records where required.\n\n Skills and Experience \n Essential: \n\n • Previous experience as a Gear Cutter and/or Thread and Worm Grinder.\n, • Experience operating Gleason P60 and P90 gear cutting machines.\n, • Experience using Doimak Thread / Worm Grinders.\n, • Experience operating Matrix Thread Grinders.\n, • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.\n, • Strong understanding of precision machining and tight tolerances.\n, • Competent in the use of precision measuring equipment.\n, • Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.\n, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.\n\n Desirable: \n\n • Apprenticeship or recognised engineering qualification.\n, • Experience within aerospace, automotive, defence, or precision engineering industries.\n, • Experience using Wenzel Gear Measuring CMM equipment for gear inspection and measurement.\n, • Knowledge of gear inspection processes and gear geometry.\n, • Experience with continuous improvement or lean manufacturing practices.\n\n Personal Attributes: \n\n • Reliable and self-motivated.\n, • Excellent problem-solving skills.\n, • Strong attention to detail.\n, • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.\n, • Good communication and teamwork skills.\n\n Working Hours \n Full-time, permanent position.
