Job Description Mechanic Pay: 28- 33/hr Shift: Monday - Friday 7:30AM - 4PM OT; Must be open to occassional weekends on call. 80% outdoor/20% indoor (shop) Job Description This role focuses on servicing, repairing, and preparing diesel-driven pump systems and power units in a shop and field environment. You will begin by cleaning, disassembling, and preparing pumps and power units for repowering, and with the right mechanical aptitude, you can grow into performing repairs, fabrication, and field service work at customer sites. Responsibilities • Clean, disassemble, and reassemble pumps and related components to prepare them for return to the field., • Perform knockdown and teardown of pump power units and pump systems that are scheduled for repowering., • Dismantle pump power units, then clean, scrape, and sand components in preparation for repainting and reassembly., • Conduct service work on pumps, including pulling hoses, testing machines, and ensuring proper operation before deployment., • Assist with mechanical repairs and fabrication tasks under the guidance of trained mechanics, as skills and aptitude allow., • Support preventive maintenance activities on diesel engines, pump systems, and industrial machinery., • Use hand tools and pneumatic tools to perform assembly, disassembly, installation, and repair work., • Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues on pump systems and power units., • Read and follow blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation when performing repairs and installations., • Travel to client sites as needed to perform field service, including maintenance and repair of pumps in the field., • Operate and be trained on forklifts and overhead cranes to move pumps and equipment safely in the yard and shop., • Retrieve pumps and equipment from the yard and bring them into the shop for service and preparation., • Maintain a clean and organized work area despite working in a dirty and demanding shop environment., • Work collaboratively in a team environment and assist with whatever tasks are needed around the shop., • Use basic reading and mathematical skills to complete work orders, measurements, and related documentation., • Complete legible handwritten documentation, including service reports and maintenance records., • Follow safety procedures when working with diesel engines, pumps, welding equipment, and lifting devices., • Participate in training on welding to assist with repairs as needed, if you do not already have welding experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with diesel engine repair, including brands such as Perkins, Mitsubishi, Kubota, and similar diesel engines., • Prior experience working on dewatering pumps, diesel-driven pump systems, or industrial pump equipment., • Exposure to field service work, including on-site maintenance and repair of industrial equipment., • Welding experience, even at a basic level, is a plus; willingness to train on welding for repairs is highly valued., • Experience working with preventive maintenance programs for diesel engines and industrial machinery., • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in pump and power unit applications., • Comfort using forklifts and overhead cranes, or willingness to be trained on this equipment., • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support a wide range of tasks in a busy shop environment. Work Environment • You will work primarily in a shop environment that does not have air conditioning and can be very dirty due to the nature of pump and power unit service., • The role requires frequent movement between the shop and yard, including retrieving pumps from the yard and bringing them inside for service., • You will use and be trained on forklifts and overhead cranes to handle heavy equipment safely., • The schedule runs Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing a consistent daytime work pattern., • The environment is highly team-oriented, and you are expected to help with whatever tasks are needed around the shop., • Dress will align with a hands-on industrial setting, supported by company-provided uniforms, and you should be prepared for physically demanding work with diesel-driven pumps and related equipment in a busy, production-focused facility.Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Palm Beach, FL.
