Job DescriptionJob Title: Field Service MechanicJob Description This field service mechanic role focuses on inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-driven and electric pumping equipment. You ensure pumps, engines, generators, and related equipment operate safely and efficiently to support customer projects in construction, municipal, industrial, and environmental applications. The position is field-based and involves regular travel to customer job sites and branch locations. Responsibilities • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-driven and electric pumping equipment, including pumps, engines, generators, and related components., • Perform mechanical troubleshooting on pumps, motors, generators, trailers, and associated equipment to identify and resolve issues efficiently., • Set up, install, and assemble pumping systems and related equipment at customer job sites and branch locations., • Conduct preventive maintenance on pumps, engines, generators, and associated systems to maximize equipment reliability and uptime., • Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and service diagrams to guide repairs, installations, and maintenance activities., • Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform mechanical repairs, adjustments, and component replacements., • Identify worn or damaged components, recommend appropriate repairs, and complete necessary service work to restore equipment to proper operation., • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems, including wiring and controls, as they relate to pumping and dewatering equipment., • Support construction, municipal, industrial, environmental, and water treatment projects by ensuring pumping equipment is properly installed and functioning., • Perform field service work outdoors in varying weather and jobsite conditions, including heat, rain, mud, and other challenging environments., • Drive a service truck to various customer sites and branch locations while complying with all driving and safety regulations., • Document work performed by completing work orders and maintenance records using basic computer skills., • Follow workplace safety procedures and OSHA standards to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others., • Communicate effectively with customers and coworkers to explain issues, outline repair options, and provide status updates., • Prioritize and manage multiple repair and maintenance tasks in a fast-paced environment, including responding to changing priorities and emergency repair situations., • Work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating with team members to support overall service operations., • Maintain dependable attendance and a strong work ethic, ensuring timely response to service needs and mandatory overtime when required., • Provide and maintain personal mechanic hand tools required for daily work and ensure tools are in safe, usable condition., • Assist coworkers as needed and contribute to a team-oriented, customer-focused service culture.Essential Skills, • Strong mechanical experience with the ability to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-driven and electric pumping equipment., • Knowledge of diesel engine operation, maintenance, and repair., • Experience working with pumps, motors, generators, and related equipment., • Understanding of hydraulic systems and their application in pumping and dewatering equipment., • Understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and controls related to industrial and field service equipment., • Mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for identifying and resolving equipment issues., • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and service diagrams., • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs for mechanical and electrical equipment., • Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment., • Comfort working outdoors in heat, rain, mud, and other jobsite conditions., • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record, with the ability to pass an MVR check., • Ability to safely lift, carry, and move heavy equipment components., • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities in a field service environment., • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and coworkers., • Basic computer skills for completing work orders and maintenance documentation., • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks., • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic., • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to assist coworkers., • Customer service skills when interacting with clients at job sites., • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and emergency repair situations., • Ownership and maintenance of basic personal mechanic hand tools required for daily work.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Diesel mechanic experience is highly preferred., • Backgrounds in heavy equipment, industrial maintenance, hydraulics, generators, trailers, or pumps are considered transferable and beneficial., • Pump and dewatering experience is a plus but not required., • Experience in construction, water treatment, or field service environments is advantageous., • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus., • Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and OSHA standards., • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple repair tasks in a fast-paced environment., • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification is preferred., • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is preferred., • Experience with installation, assembly, and preventive maintenance of mechanical and Work Environment This is a first-shift position with a typical schedule of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with mandatory overtime as needed to meet customer demands and respond to urgent service calls. The role is primarily field-based, requiring regular travel by truck to different customer sites and branch locations. You work frequently outdoors in Florida conditions, including heat, rain, mud, and other jobsite environments, supporting construction, municipal, industrial, and environmental projects. You regularly handle pumps, pumping stations, generators, trailers, and related mechanical and electrical equipment, using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and basic computer systems to complete work orders and documentation. Safety procedures and OSHA standards guide daily operations, and uniforms are provided to maintain a consistent, professional appearance while working in the field and at customer locations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Palm Beach, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
