Job Description Position Summary Express is seeking a driven, energetic, and results-focused Office Manager / Selling Manager to lead our Richmond staffing office. This position is responsible for the overall performance of the office, including business development, client relationships, recruiting operations, team leadership, customer service, and profitability. This is not a desk-only management role. The Office Manager will be expected to actively sell, develop new business, visit clients, build relationships, and grow the office while also leading and supporting the internal team. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who enjoys sales, thrives in a fast-paced environment, holds people accountable, and is passionate about helping businesses find great employees and helping people find great jobs. Key Responsibilities Sales and Business Development • Actively prospect for new clients through cold calling, networking, referrals, email outreach, social media, and in-person visits., • Schedule and conduct sales appointments with business owners, human resources leaders, operations managers, and hiring managers., • Develop new staffing accounts within the Richmond market., • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients., • Conduct client tours, workforce consultations, and staffing needs assessments., • Prepare and present staffing proposals, pricing, service agreements, and workforce solutions., • Follow up consistently with prospects and maintain accurate sales activity records., • Expand existing accounts by identifying additional departments, positions, shifts, and service opportunities., • Represent the company at networking events, job fairs, chamber events, and community activities., • Meet or exceed established sales, gross margin, client growth, and associate placement goals. Office Leadership • Lead, coach, motivate, and develop the Richmond office team., • Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance., • Conduct daily team meetings, weekly performance reviews, and individual coaching sessions., • Create a positive, competitive, and high-energy office culture., • Ensure the team consistently demonstrates the company’s core values., • Manage office schedules, workloads, priorities, and staffing coverage., • Recognize strong performance and address performance concerns promptly., • Assist with hiring, training, onboarding, and developing internal employees., • Lead by example through professionalism, urgency, accountability, and excellent customer service. Recruiting and Staffing Operations • Oversee the recruiting, interviewing, screening, selection, and placement process., • Ensure job orders are filled quickly with qualified and dependable candidates., • Support recruiters with difficult-to-fill positions and high-volume staffing projects., • Review open orders, candidate pipelines, placements, falloffs, and unfilled positions daily., • Ensure associates understand job expectations, attendance requirements, safety procedures, and client policies., • Monitor associate attendance, performance, retention, and assignment completion., • Help resolve employee relations, attendance, performance, and workplace concerns., • Ensure recruiting and placement practices comply with company policies and applicable employment laws. Client Service and Account Management • Maintain regular communication with existing clients., • Conduct client visits, service reviews, and follow-up meetings., • Respond quickly to client concerns, staffing changes, attendance issues, and performance problems., • Work closely with clients to understand their operations, workforce needs, culture, and hiring challenges., • Develop solutions that improve client retention, employee retention, productivity, attendance, and service quality., • Ensure client orders, pricing, job descriptions, worksite information, and safety requirements are accurate., • Build long-term partnerships and become a trusted workforce resource for each client. Financial and Performance Management • Manage the office’s sales, revenue, gross margin, client growth, associate count, and profitability goals., • Review weekly and monthly performance reports., • Monitor bill rates, pay rates, markups, overtime, workers’ compensation exposure, and account profitability., • Ensure accurate and timely payroll, billing, timekeeping, and client documentation., • Develop action plans when the office is not meeting established goals., • Protect company profitability while delivering excellent service to clients and associates. Qualifications • Previous experience in staffing, recruiting, sales, business development, operations, or office management is preferred., • Proven ability to develop new business and build strong client relationships., • Previous leadership or team management experience., • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills., • Comfortable making cold calls, conducting client visits, and asking for business., • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment., • Strong sense of urgency, personal accountability, and attention to detail., • Ability to coach employees, address performance concerns, and make difficult decisions., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, customer relationship management systems, applicant tracking systems, and general office technology., • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client visits and community events.
