Job Description Job Title: General Production Worker - This is located in Chicago Heights Job Description The General Production Worker supports high-volume packaging and production operations by bottling products, assembling and packing containers, and preparing orders for shipment. This role works across multiple lines to package, palletize, and label products, assists with batch mixing and basic formulation tasks, and performs routine housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility. The position requires flexibility to move between packaging, formulation, and janitorial tasks as production needs change. Responsibilities • Place caps and lids on bottles and ensure they are properly sealed., • Bottle products into boxes and cases according to production requirements., • Load bottles, caps, and lids into boxes and other packaging materials., • Sort and separate finished products by type, size, and order specifications., • Pack jugs and bottles into boxes securely to prevent damage during handling and shipping., • Lift and stage boxes in designated areas for further processing or shipment., • Palletize and wrap boxes and containers to prepare them for storage or transport., • Place boxes and products into sealer machinery and monitor the sealing process., • Perform quality inspections by counting, sorting, and checking product sizes to ensure accuracy., • Apply tags and labels to products and boxes in line with order and regulatory requirements., • Pull cases off the production line and stack them on pallets in an organized manner., • Wrap and stage cases and boxes for shipment or transfer to the warehouse., • Work on multiple packaging lines and adjust to different products and formats as needed., • Assist operators with batch mixing, including making batches and weighing out product liquids., • Perform prep work for batches, including handling drums and totes and organizing materials., • Document all orders accurately to support inventory control and shipping processes., • Lift products, boxes, drums, and totes weighing up to approximately 50–55 pounds as part of daily tasks., • Wear required steel toe boots and follow all safety guidelines while on the production floor and in the warehouse., • Carry out housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, taking out trash, and salting the parking lot when it snows, especially when lines are down or production runs are completed., • Adapt to changing daily needs by moving between packaging, formulation, and janitorial work as directed., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area at all times., • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to keep production running smoothly., • Multi-task across different responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail and quality. Essential Skills • Ability to perform multiple jobs and work effectively in multiple areas within the production environment., • Capability to lift up to approximately 50–55 pounds on a regular basis., • Prior manufacturing or general labor experience in a production, warehouse, or packaging setting., • Comfort with repetitive motions and tasks throughout the shift., • Experience with packaging activities such as picking, packing, lifting, sorting, counting, wrapping, and staging products., • Ability to work on multiple lines and adapt to different packaging processes and products., • Basic experience with batch mixing or willingness to learn and support formulation tasks., • Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to shift between packaging, formulation, and housekeeping duties., • Attention to detail for counting products, checking sizes, and ensuring accurate labeling and documentation., • Reliability in attendance and performance, with the ability to work extended hours and mandatory overtime as needed., • Ability to follow safety procedures and wear required steel toe boots on the production floor., • Reliable transportation to the facility, as the site is not accessible by public transit. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Background in chemical, oil, or food manufacturing is preferred., • Experience in high-volume production environments with multiple lines and frequent changeovers is beneficial., • Comfort working with drums, totes, and liquid products in a controlled manufacturing setting., • Ability to document orders accurately and support inventory and shipping processes., • Strong work ethic and willingness to wear multiple hats throughout the workday., • Flexibility to work different shifts and mandatory overtime, including Fridays and occasional Saturdays., • Comfort working in both smaller teams and larger, more fast-paced production environments., • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area and common spaces. Work Environment The role is based in a temperature-controlled manufacturing and warehouse setting in Alsip, Illinois, with operations that include both production floors and warehouse areas. The Alsip facility is modern, very clean, and recently remodeled, with a strong focus on safety, organization, and inventory control. It has a smaller workforce, with roughly 10–15 people on first shift and about half that on second shift, and fewer lines, kettles, fillers, and blenders compared to larger sites. Another facility in Chicago Heights is also temperature controlled and supports a larger workforce with more lines and higher production volume, multiple break rooms, and security checkpoints at the front; it can feel more fast-paced and occasionally chaotic due to the amount of work and number of people. At both locations, chemicals used are not harmful, and operations center on manufacturing, bottling, staging, and shipping products. Work is performed on first or second shift, with typical hours such as 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Monday–Friday (standard four 10-hour days Monday–Thursday with mandatory Fridays and optional Saturdays) or 4:00 p.m.–2:30 a.m. Monday–Friday, and approximately 50 hours per week are expected when demand is high. Dress code includes required steel toe boots and adherence to all safety gear and guidelines appropriate for a production and warehouse environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alsip, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.25 - $18.35/hr.
