Details\n \n • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in a hospital setting, working across two PCU units (cost centers 630 and 633)\n, • Unit 630 has 34 beds and unit 633 has 25 beds\n, • Patient ratios are 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights\n, • Unit is supported by nursing techs (3 techs when full on unit 630, 2 techs when full on unit 633)\n, • Equipment includes BiPAPs, high-flow O2, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, and wound vacs\n, • Cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, and peritoneal dialysis are commonly managed on the unit\n, • Documentation is performed in Meditech\n, • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week\n, • Every other weekend is required\n, • Floating may occur between PCU units or to med-surg floors\n, • 13-week contract\n Requirements\n \n, • Active RN license — TN license or Compact RN license required\n, • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of start)\n, • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required for PCU RNs\n, • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU experience required\n, • Strong EKG rhythm interpretation skills required\n, • Experience managing cardiac drips, heparin drips, and insulin drips required\n, • Experience with BiPAPs, high-flow O2, and multiple oxygen delivery systems required\n, • Peripheral IV skills required\n, • Experience with stroke and post-cardiac cath care required\n, • US SSN and date of birth required for consideration\n, • One professional reference required (two required for candidates from Florida or Missouri)\n, • No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months\n Additional Information\n \n, • Procedures performed on the unit include peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, NG/Dobhoff tube insertions, central line dressing changes, and wound vac troubleshooting\n, • Peritoneal dialysis experience is preferred but not required\n, • Experience with tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tubes is preferred\n, • Patient experience expectations include hourly rounding on days, every 2-hour rounding on nights, and use of AIDET communication standards\n, • Unit uses self-scheduling on a 4-week schedule\n, • Black scrubs are required\n, • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible\n, • Most travelers extend their contract after their first assignment on this PCU\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-728679.
