Job DescriptionJob Title: Industrial ElectricianJob Description This role supports all electrical and mechanical maintenance needs for plant machinery, building systems, and safety-related equipment in a large manufacturing environment. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment, and ensure all electrical work complies with applicable safety codes and documentation requirements. The position involves hands-on work across a wide range of machines and building systems, requiring strong electrical skills and solid mechanical aptitude. Responsibilities • Support maintenance requirements for production machinery, facility systems, and safety initiatives across the plant., • Develop, follow, and maintain preventative maintenance schedules and documentation for all shop equipment., • Maintain and repair building systems including machine shop equipment, compressors, tooling, generators, lighting, fire alarms, and sprinkler systems., • Upgrade, repair, and replace machinery parts and components as needed to maintain optimal equipment performance., • Monitor machinery to ensure it operates in optimal working condition and address issues proactively., • Provide electrical maintenance support for all machinery and facility infrastructure., • Maintain electrical support for equipment in the machine shop, including troubleshooting and repair., • Assist mechanical assembly teams with diagnosing and repairing equipment breakdowns., • Maintain the building’s electrical systems and ensure full compliance with applicable safety codes., • Conduct building wiring inspections and address any deficiencies or hazards., • Maintain all required electrical safety records in accordance with OSHA requirements., • Work independently on all types of maintenance repair, electrical repair, and electrical installation tasks., • Operate machine shop equipment to fabricate or modify repair parts as needed., • Use electrical instruments to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems on industrial manufacturing equipment., • Perform various repairs to shop equipment and complete general and finish carpentry tasks as needed., • Perform gas welding and cutting, and electric welding on a variety of workpieces., • Maintain and repair water, oil, steam, air, and gas lines, as well as fire and water pumping systems., • Perform fork truck maintenance and handle a broad range of electrical work throughout the facility., • Rebuild gearboxes and identify and repair failures related to cams, sprockets, pulleys, bearings, bushings, and other mechanical components., • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including pumps, motors, cooling towers, heat exchangers, valves, and related components., • Demonstrate and apply working proficiency with low-voltage electrical practices in day-to-day tasks., • Demonstrate and apply working proficiency with stick welding and torch cutting for maintenance and repair work., • Dismantle machinery or equipment to gain access to and remove defective parts safely and efficiently., • Inspect used or worn parts to determine necessary dimensional changes or replacements., • Adjust functional parts of machines, equipment, and control instruments to restore proper operation., • Repair or replace defective parts and verify proper function after maintenance., • Clean and prepare parts and components as part of the repair and maintenance process., • Start and run machinery after maintenance to test and verify performance and reliability., • Set up rigging for moving or handling equipment or heavy parts safely., • Design, fabricate, and install new or replacement equipment components as needed to support operations., • Take, monitor, and document observations, settings, readings, meters, and gauges as required for maintenance records., • Secure, complete, and submit required department work order documentation accurately and on time., • Maintain required housekeeping standards in the work area to ensure a safe and organized environment., • Follow all safety rules and safety procedures at all times while performing work., • Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned to support maintenance and production operations.Essential Skills, • Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong focus on electrical work., • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial manufacturing equipment and electrical systems., • Working proficiency with low-voltage electrical practices in an industrial setting., • Experience with electrical maintenance, including conduit work and wiring for industrial equipment., • Ability to rebuild gearboxes and repair mechanical components such as cams, sprockets, pulleys, bearings, and bushings., • Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, motors, cooling towers, and heat exchangers., • Ability to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems and related components., • Working proficiency with stick welding and torch cutting for maintenance and fabrication tasks., • Ability to use requirements., • Capability to work independently on electrical and mechanical maintenance, repair, and installation tasks., • Strong adherence to safety rules, procedures, and OSHA-related recordkeeping requirements., • Ability to perform physical tasks such as dismantling machinery, setting up rigging, and handling heavy parts in an industrial environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working as an industrial electrician or maintenance technician in a manufacturing or plant environment., • Background in unionized industrial settings or environments with structured maintenance operations., • Experience supporting building systems such as lighting, fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and compressors., • Experience with fork truck maintenance and other mobile equipment maintenance., • Ability to design, fabricate, and install new or replacement equipment components., • Familiarity with documenting observations, readings, and gauge measurements for maintenance tracking., • Comfort working with lubricants and chemicals commonly used in industrial plants., • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple maintenance tasks concurrently., • Willingness to perform general and finish carpentry as part of maintenance responsibilities., • Ability to maintain high housekeeping standards in a busy industrial environment.Why Work Environment The role is based in a large industrial manufacturing facility that produces wire products. The environment includes numerous machines running continuously, which can create a hazy atmosphere in the plant. Due to galvanized wire processes, there is a distinct odor present in the air; this odor is monitored by a chemical team to ensure that fumes remain within safe limits. Temperatures in the facility can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter, reflecting typical conditions in a large production plant. The work involves using a wide variety of tools and equipment, including sledgehammers, drills, crowbars, block and tackle, chain falls, drill presses, wrenches, electrical tools, gas and electric cutting and welding equipment, and plumbers and pipe-fitters tools. Employees work on many different machines and systems throughout the plant and handle several types of lubricants and chemicals.
