Job Description Job Title: Automotive Technician Job Description This role supports a large wholesale auto auction operation by inspecting incoming vehicles, identifying mechanical and safety issues, and coordinating with technicians and parts staff to ensure vehicles are properly assessed and prepared. You will work hands-on with multiple vehicles each day, using your automotive knowledge to document conditions and support efficient repair decisions. Responsibilities • Inspect incoming vehicles thoroughly to identify and document issues with engines, transmissions, tires, brakes, and oil levels or changes needed., • Perform detailed quality checks on each assigned vehicle, typically working on 10–15 cars per day., • Use a dedicated vehicle lift to safely inspect undercarriage components and other hard-to-reach areas., • Record inspection findings clearly and accurately in the required formats or systems., • Collaborate closely with automotive technicians to review inspection results and determine what repairs or maintenance are needed., • Coordinate with the parts department to identify, request, and track parts required for technicians to complete repairs., • Verify that parts received match requested components and are suitable for the identified repairs., • Assist in maintaining consistent inspection standards to support safety, compliance, and auction readiness., • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure vehicles move efficiently through the inspection and repair process., • Follow all safety procedures and best practices while working with lifts, tools, and vehicles. Essential Skills • Proven automotive experience as a mechanic, technician, or in a closely related role., • Hands-on experience inspecting vehicles for issues such as engine, transmission, tires, brakes, and oil changes., • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and understand common automotive problems., • Basic diagnostic experience in an automotive environment., • Ability to work efficiently on multiple vehicles per day while maintaining accuracy and quality., • Strong attention to detail when documenting vehicle conditions and issues., • Effective communication skills to collaborate with technicians and parts personnel., • Commitment to following safety protocols when working with lifts, tools, and vehicles. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in automotive service environments such as quick-lube centers, tire shops, or similar facilities (for example, experience with tires, brakes, and oil changes)., • Prior work in an auto auction, dealership, or high-volume automotive operation., • Familiarity with basic automotive diagnostic tools and equipment., • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment with a steady flow of vehicles., • Strong organizational skills to manage documentation and coordinate with multiple team members. The setting is fast-paced with a steady flow of vehicles to inspect, and you will regularly interact with technicians and parts staff. Appropriate work attire typically includes durable clothing suitable for a shop environment and closed-toe footwear, consistent with standard automotive service settings. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clarksville, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
