Job Description Carpenter - Full-Time/Union Department: Maintenance Reports to: General Foreperson - Facilities; Manager of Maintenance About the Job Performs carpentry duties necessary to construct and maintain building woodwork and equipment. Communicates with individuals both inside and outside the company., • Basic analytical skills necessary to organize workload to establish priorities., • Ability to climb and work at a height of 205 feet in the installation or repair of some rides and attractions., • Ability to become familiar with and use fall protection equipment., • Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds in the repair or installation of equipment., • Ability to read material (including blueprints and drawings) to interpret and analyze content., • Ability to write to explain or describe., • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 75% of work activities., • Requires ability to operate:, • Standard carpentry and plumbing hand and power tools and equipment., • Vehicles, • Uniloader, • Hand-held two-way radios, • Tractors, • Park rides, • Telephone, • Manlift/forklift, • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs., • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law, • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohitbited by federal, state, or provincial law. Essential Duties and Responsibilities including the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Through walking and climbing along all areas of the wooden roller coasters, inspects all areas of rides through visual, tactile and auditory observations to ensure safe and proper operation. Communicates concerns to supervisor and/or, using own judgement, makes necessary repairs. Manually logs and documents all safety checks., • From blueprints, drawings, models or verbal instruction, performs general carpentry work using a variety of carpenter's hand and power tools and standard measuring instruments. Makes standard shop computations relating to dimension or work. Selects material necessary for the work., • Performs general labor such as crafting materials, building fences and roughing in framing., • Manually erects tents and other canvases., • Performs roofing and plumbing work as requested., • Responds to the requests of the Assistant Director as assigned., • Provides guest service according to Enchanted Parks Standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions., • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Enchanted Parks Safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision., • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs., • Meets Enchanted Parks' attendance requirements., • Adheres to Enchanted Parks' Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures., • Other duties may be assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic functions, and permutations., • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distributions, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis., • Ability to speak and understand English at a level sufficient to comprehend basic instructions from supervisors; conduct basic interactions with other employees; and answer simple questions. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: • Year-round outdoor work in extreme weather conditions., • Walking and standing on concrete and asphalt for extended periods of time., • Climbing to and working at a height of 205 feet., • Possible exposure to gasoline, galvanizing paint, chlorine, caustic soda, drain cleaners, and natural gas and propane., • Lift/Carry 25 lbs alone and up to 51 lbs with assistance, • Vision: Required for visual inspection of parts, rides building, etc., • Hearing: Required for inspection of parts, rides, and alarms., • Sense of Smell: Required for inspection of parts and to detect fumes, odors, and chemicals., • Sense of Touch: required for tactile inspection of parts, rides, buildings, etc., • Ability to work at heights: Required for inspection of rides and buildings. Climbing to and working at a height of 205 feet., • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment with appropriate training such as fall protection and confined spaces.
