Job DescriptionJob Title: Shipping Associate Job Description The Shipping Associate supports production operations by managing material flow, maintaining accurate inventory, and ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery of products to internal and external customers. This role focuses on replenishing production areas, performing inventory control activities, safely moving materials, and verifying product quality and quantities to meet production schedules and shipping deadlines. Responsibilities • Pick customer sales orders accurately and palletize large items or orders as needed., • Verify that all picked items and quantities match order requirements before packing., • Pack customer orders securely for shipment to protect product quality in transit., • Select the lowest cost appropriate mode of transportation for each shipment., • Package orders in boxes or on pallets to ensure safe and stable shipment., • Use handheld RF scanners to confirm the correct products are picked and shipped., • Check quantities and perform general inspections of tools and products during the shipping process., • Enter shipment information into shipping software and manufacturing software to process orders., • Load small parcel trailers with packages in a safe and organized manner., • Quote less-than-truckload (LTL) freight to determine the lowest cost preferred carrier and schedule shipments., • Enter freight dimensions and order information into manufacturing software to complete processing., • Run end-of-day processes in both shipping and manufacturing software to close out shipments., • Replenish packaging materials and re-label products as needed to fulfill sales orders., • Perform cycle counts of inventory and enter corrections into manufacturing software., • Issue necessary shipping supplies to the department to support daily operations., • Clean and reorganize the department to maintain an orderly, efficient work area., • Identify and support process and departmental improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Essential Skills, • High school diploma or GED required., • Minimum of 3 months of related warehouse or manufacturing experience., • Experience with shipping and receiving operations., • Experience with inventory control activities, including cycle counting., • Proficiency with online shipping platforms, including UPS and FedEx systems., • Ability to use handheld RF scanners effectively., • Ability to operate a forklift and pallet handling equipment safely., • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in a shipping or warehouse department., • Basic knowledge of personal computers, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email., • Ability to navigate customer websites, shipping software, and Transportation Management Systems., • Basic problem-solving skills to address routine shipping and inventory issues., • Basic math and reading skills for order verification and data entry., • Basic knowledge of manufacturing software for order and inventory processing., • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and other departments., • Basic knowledge of safety procedures relevant to warehouse and shipping operations., • Basic understanding of department policies and procedures., • Ability to walk and stand for the majority of the shift on hard surfaces., • Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects., • Ability to occasionally lift 25–50 pounds and frequently lift 10–24 pounds., • Ability to occasionally carry 25–50 pounds and frequently carry 10–24 pounds.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Familiarity with small parcel and LTL freight processes., • Comfort working with multiple software systems for shipping, manufacturing, and transportation management., • Ability to prioritize tasks and move efficiently from one job to the next., • Interest in contributing to process and departmental improvements., • Comfort working in a fast-paced production and shipping environment.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role follows a regular schedule of approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in a high-activity warehouse and production setting. The facility is not climate controlled, so temperatures can become very hot during the summer months; large overhead fans and floor fans are in place throughout the building to improve comfort as much as possible. The position requires frequent walking and standing on hard surfaces, as well as regular lifting, carrying, and moving of materials. You will work with RF scanners, forklifts, pallet handling equipment, and various shipping and manufacturing software systems in a hands-on, physically active environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of The Colony, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.73 - $23.27/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
