Job Description Job Title: Welder and Fabricator Pay: $21 - 26 an hour Lakeland FL Shift: 6am to 4pm Monday to Friday Job Description This role involves fabricating steel components used in the production of heavy construction equipment and conveyor systems in a fast-paced industrial environment. You will perform precise welding and fabrication work, follow technical drawings and measurements, and maintain high standards of safety and quality while working primarily on a Monday through Friday daytime shift in Lakeland, FL. Responsibilities • Fabricate steel components according to specified dimensions, tolerances, and production requirements., • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to plan and execute fabrication tasks., • Set up, operate, and adjust welding and fabrication equipment to complete assigned work accurately., • Inspect finished cuts, welds, and fabricated parts for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications, making corrections as needed., • Handle, lift, and position heavy steel materials safely using appropriate tools, equipment, and techniques., • Perform cutting operations using saws, including bandsaws, and measure materials accurately using tape measures and other measuring tools., • Use grinding, deburring, and finishing tools to prepare and refine metal surfaces and edges. Essential Skills • Proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to produce consistent, high-quality welds., • Experience with metal fabrication processes, including cutting, fitting, and assembling steel components., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and measurements accurately., • Skilled use of saws, including bandsaws, for cutting steel and other metals to specified dimensions., • Competence in using tape measures and other measuring tools to maintain precise tolerances., • Experience with grinding, deburring, and finishing metal surfaces safely and effectively. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Prior experience working with steel materials in an industrial or fabrication environment is a plus., • Experience with TIG welding, flux core welding, and fitting is a plus., • Experience working with stainless steel, carbon steel, sheet metal, and structural steel components is beneficial. Work Environment The position is based in an industrial facility in Lakeland, FL, with a Monday through Friday schedule and a shift starting at 6:00 a.m. and ending around 3:30 or 4:00 p.m. You will work in a combination of indoor and outdoor areas that are hot, dirty, and non-climate-controlled, typical of a heavy industrial environment. The role involves regular use of welding equipment, saws (including bandsaws), grinding and deburring tools, hand and power tools, and other metalworking machinery. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times, and adherence to safety protocols is essential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lakeland, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
