Job DescriptionJob Title: Production Helper / 1st Shift Machine OperatorJob Description This role supports a busy manufacturing operation by assisting with production tasks and operating machines on a structured first-shift schedule. You will work with hand and power tools, read basic blueprints, and help ensure products are manufactured safely, accurately, and on time in a hands-on, team-oriented environment. Responsibilities • Operate production machinery, including brake press and related equipment, according to established procedures and safety guidelines., • Assist with general production and labor tasks such as assembling components, staging materials, and preparing parts for processing., • Use hand tools and power tools to perform basic fabrication, assembly, or finishing work as directed., • Interpret and follow basic blueprints or work instructions to ensure parts meet specifications., • Support welding-related activities as needed, using your own welding helmet and tools where applicable., • Inspect parts and materials during production to identify obvious defects or issues and report them to the appropriate team members., • Maintain a clean and organized work area by handling materials safely and following housekeeping standards., • Collaborate with team members to keep production lines running smoothly and assist in other areas when additional work is needed., • Follow all safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and immediately report any unsafe conditions., • Contribute to a positive, family-oriented work culture by being reliable, flexible, and willing to take on additional tasks as needed.Essential Skills, • Experience working in a production, manufacturing, or general labor environment., • Ability to operate machines safely, including brake press equipment., • Comfort using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing setting., • Basic ability to read and follow blueprints or work instructions., • Willingness and physical ability to perform hands-on labor, including lifting and moving materials as required., • Familiarity with welding processes and willingness to support welding-related tasks., • Strong attention to safety and consistent use of required PPE., • Reliability in following a set shift schedule and completing assigned tasks.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Prior experience as a machine operator in a manufacturing environment., • Experience with brake press operation or similar metal fabrication equipment., • Exposure to welding or metal fabrication work, including use of personal welding tools., • Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, close-knit team., • Flexibility to assist in different production areas when needed.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing environment within a small, family-oriented organization of approximately 60 full-time employees. The standard schedule follows a first-shift structure: Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., and Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. You will work around production machinery, hand tools, power tools, and welding operations, with an emphasis on safety and teamwork. The dress code requires jeans, a T-shirt, and steel-toed boots, along with mandatory personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and ear plugs, which are supplied on-site. Candidates must provide their own welding helmet and tools. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
