Nature & Scope:Positional OverviewOur client is seeking a Database Administrator IV to support a small Banking Services Enterprise Operations database team responsible for enterprise reporting databases, vendor applications, and shared SQL environments. This senior-level role will provide expert database engineering, administration, and ETL support across multiple enterprise database environments.The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert for SQL Server and SSIS, supporting ETL development and maintenance, database provisioning, access management, production troubleshooting, and database solution consulting. The role will also contribute to future Azure and co-located infrastructure migration efforts. Role & Responsibility:Tasks That Will Lead To Your Success • Develop, maintain, and support SSIS ETL packages and enterprise data movement processes., • Administer and support SQL Server databases across approximately 10–20 enterprise environments., • Provision databases, manage database access, and support shared SQL environments and vendor applications., • Consult with application and development teams on database design, RDBMS solutions, and production problem resolution., • Troubleshoot complex production database and ETL issues and recommend long-term reliability and performance improvements., • Support database enhancements, conversions, testing efforts, and scheduled production releases., • Assist with future database migration initiatives involving Azure Data Factory, Azure, and co-located infrastructure., • Use scripting and automation, including Python where applicable, to improve data movement and operational efficiency., • Maintain database continuity, audit, risk, and regulatory controls in alignment with enterprise standards., • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members. Required Experience, • 8+ years of RDBMS experience with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server., • Deep hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting SSIS ETL solutions., • Strong database engineering and administration experience, including database provisioning, access management, and production support., • Experience supporting multiple databases and complex enterprise database environments simultaneously., • Experience leading complex database enhancements, conversions, troubleshooting, and production issue resolution., • Strong SQL performance tuning, problem-solving, analytical, and task management skills., • Ability to consult with application teams and translate business and technical requirements into effective database solutions., • Strong communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills., • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, including early morning support beginning at 6:00 AM and scheduled after-hours production releases. Preferred Qualifications, • Bachelor’s degree or higher., • Azure Data Factory experience., • Python experience supporting data movement or automation., • Mainframe experience., • Banking or financial services database support experience., • Experience with enterprise reporting databases, vendor applications, and regulated environments., • Proven mentoring and leadership experience within database engineering or RDBMS teams. Team & Environment, • Small database team consisting of three DBAs plus the hiring manager., • Fully onsite at Seneca One in Buffalo, NY; remote work is not available., • On-call rotation includes early morning support and scheduled after-hours production releases., • Initial contract through December 2026 due to current budget timing, with strong possibility of extension pending funding approval., • Interview process is expected to include the hiring manager and potentially the new team lead.
