Job Description Job Title: General Laborer Job Description This role supports critical environmental cleaning on an active construction site by performing detailed interior and exterior cleaning throughout all phases of construction. You will help maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment by cleaning all exposed interior surfaces, installed equipment, and exterior panels while working closely alongside other trades and heavy equipment. Responsibilities • Clean all exposed interior surfaces within the construction area from the floor to the building deck above., • Perform detailed cleaning tasks such as mopping, wiping, vacuuming, brushing, and dust removal on materials as they are being built or installed., • Use scissor lifts, boom poles, ladders, brooms, towels, and other tools to access and clean hard-to-reach areas safely., • Pressure wash exterior panels once installed, as well as generator coverings and flooring., • Clean interior services, installed equipment, beams, walls, and other structural components throughout the facility., • Work safely and attentively around active construction, remaining alert to surrounding trades, equipment, and ongoing installations., • Perform tasks while standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders for extended periods., • Follow all site safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to construction site rules., • Walk approximately 10 minutes from the parking lot to the guard shack and check in daily before starting work., • Collaborate and communicate effectively while working in teams of four to five to complete assigned cleaning tasks., • Support power washing activities throughout all seasons, including winter, by dressing appropriately for the elements., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and report any safety concerns or issues to site leadership. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of experience in a labor-intensive role such as construction, cleaning, general labor, janitorial, mitigation, restoration, or environmental remediation., • Valid driver’s license., • Ability to stand and perform physical work for 10 or more hours per day., • Comfort working in and around active construction sites, including around heavy equipment and other trades., • Ability to use hand tools and cleaning equipment safely and effectively., • Ability to work in hot and cold environments, including rain or shine., • Capability to perform frequent bending, kneeling, standing, and ladder use., • Reliability to work Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays and overtime as needed., • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and back ground checks. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Construction back ground, especially experience working alongside other trades and around scissor lifts and heavy equipment., • Experience in mitigation, restoration, Hazwoper, or environmental remediation., • Familiarity with using scissor lifts and boom poles for cleaning high or hard-to-reach areas., • Comfort working in team-based environments and coordinating tasks within groups of four to five people. Work Environment This is a full-time role on an active construction site, with typical hours Monday through Friday from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and occasional longer days and overtime based on construction needs. The first day includes an early arrival to the parking lot at 5:15 a.m., with work hours from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to accommodate orientation before transitioning into regular duties. The average workweek is currently around 42 hours, and occasional Saturday work may be required. Work is performed approximately 90% indoors and 10% outdoors, including a daily 10-minute outdoor walk from the parking lot to the guard shack for check-in. Tasks involve working around equipment that is still being installed and in close proximity to other trades and heavy machinery. Power washing continues through the winter, so you will need to dress appropriately for changing weather and environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. The dress code requires steel-toe boots, jeans, and a work-appropriate shirt provided by the worker. The site provides or accepts existing ANSI-Z89 hard hats, ANSI-Z87 safety glasses, ANSI safety vests with 2-inch reflective tape, and level 2–4 cut-resistant work gloves as standard PPE. Microwaves are available on site, but there are no refrigerators, so employees are encouraged to pack lunches with ice packs. Work is highly collaborative, with team-based assignments typically organized in groups of four to five people. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
