Job DescriptionMulti-Site Director of Nursing (Assisted Living) Location: Rockland, Orange & Westchester Counties, NY Employment Type: Full-Time Travel: Frequent travel between assigned communities required Position Summary We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and results-driven Multi-Site Director of Nursing (DON) to provide clinical leadership and operational oversight for multiple Assisted Living communities throughout Rockland, Orange, and Westchester Counties. The Multi-Site DON is responsible for ensuring exceptional resident care, maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting and developing nursing teams, and partnering with Executive Directors to achieve quality, safety, and operational excellence across all assigned communities. This role is ideal for a seasoned nursing leader who enjoys mentoring teams, implementing best practices, and driving consistent clinical outcomes across multiple locations. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Leadership Provide clinical oversight for multiple Assisted Living communities. Ensure delivery of high-quality, resident-centered nursing care. Monitor resident health services and clinical outcomes. Support resident assessments, care planning, and service coordination. Review clinical documentation for accuracy and regulatory compliance. Assist communities with admissions and resident clinical evaluations. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all New York State Assisted Living regulations. Prepare communities for Department of Health surveys and inspections. Conduct mock surveys and clinical audits. Develop and implement corrective action plans. Maintain infection prevention and control standards. Staff Leadership & Development Mentor and coach Directors of Nursing, Resident Care Coordinators, and nursing staff. Participate in hiring, onboarding, orientation, and performance management. Identify educational opportunities and provide ongoing clinical training. Promote employee engagement and retention initiatives. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and compassionate care. Quality Assurance Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives. Analyze quality metrics and identify trends. Monitor incident reports, medication errors, falls, infections, and hospital readmissions. Implement evidence-based practices to improve resident outcomes. Operational Support Collaborate with Executive Directors and regional leadership. Assist with staffing strategies and clinical scheduling. Participate in budget planning related to nursing operations. Support implementation of company policies and procedures. Respond to clinical emergencies and provide operational support as needed. Communication Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, physicians, pharmacies, hospitals, hospice agencies, and community partners. Communicate clinical updates to leadership in a timely manner. Participate in leadership meetings and interdisciplinary care conferences. QualificationsRequired Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State. Minimum of 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience. At least 3 years as a Director of Nursing, Regional Clinical Nurse, or similar leadership role. Experience in Assisted Living, Adult Care, Long-Term Care, or Senior Living. Thorough knowledge of New York State Assisted Living regulations. Strong leadership, coaching, and organizational skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Multi-site clinical management experience. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Certification in Assisted Living, Gerontology, or Nursing Administration. Infection Prevention or Quality Assurance certification.
