Job DescriptionJob Title: MIG Welder Job Description We are seeking a skilled MIG Welder to join our team in manufacturing a wide variety of sheet metal and structural steel products. You will work with materials ranging from 14 gauge to 1/4” carbon steel and stainless steel, constructing items such as guards, chutes, covers, conveyors, tanks, frames, and flumes. Responsibilities • Operate a MIG welding machine and regulate current and voltage for proper fusion of metals., • Select appropriate materials and gauge of metal., • Work from engineering drawings, layouts, sketches, samples, prototypes, or verbal instructions., • Use various hand power tools and hand tools to finish products., • Grind out slag, burrs, and sharp edges using portable grinders or sanders., • Inspect and mark part numbers on finished parts., • Operate a forklift or overhead crane to move parts and materials.Essential Skills, • Proficiency in MIG welding and the ability to weld on materials from 14 gauge through 1/4” carbon steel and stainless steel., • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints., • Experience in using and interpreting tape measures., • Experience in fitting, grinding, and finishing metal products.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Ability to operate various hand tools and power tools., • Experience in operating forklifts or overhead cranes., • Familiarity with working from engineering drawings and layouts.Why Work Here? Work Environment Our facility operates on the 1st shift from 5am to 3:30pm, with 30-minute lunches and 8-hour shifts as the base. There is flexibility to work up to 10 hours as needed, and potential Saturday shifts. The building is well-lit, with a lot of character and windows, and was built in 1906. Temperature control varies with the season, with fans and open doors in summer months. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
