Job DescriptionJob Title: Forklift Operator – $17/HR Job Description This role supports a high-volume container management and racking warehouse, where you move, clean, repair, and stage containers, racks, and plastic totes using forklifts and manual processes. You will spend most of your time operating a sit-down forklift, with regular tasks off the truck that include washing totes, processing inbound containers, and performing basic repairs. The work is steady, physically active, and hands-on, with a strong emphasis on safety, accuracy, and teamwork in a fast-changing workflow. Responsibilities • Operate a sit-down forklift for the majority of the shift to move, load, and unload containers, racks, and totes throughout the facility., • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently, following all site procedures and safety guidelines., • Read and interpret shipping paperwork to verify that the correct containers and racks are being loaded, unloaded, and shipped., • Handle inbound process lanes by removing manufacturer tags from containers and racks and preparing them for processing., • Use a hand scanner to process incoming totes and racks, ensuring accurate tracking and documentation of all items., • Work on the tote washing line by loading, unloading, sorting, staging, and scanning plastic totes as they move through the washing machine., • Stand for the full shift while performing repetitive tasks such as bending, sorting, scanning, and staging totes and containers., • Perform basic repairs on large plastic containers ranging in size from approximately 2x2 to 8x8, using hand drills and screwdrivers., • Inspect containers and racks for damage or defects and ensure they are cleaned, repaired, and ready for reuse., • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including scrubbing grime and debris from containers and equipment as needed., • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of equipment and adherence to facility rules, to prevent accidents and injuries., • Communicate consistently with supervisors and team members about workflow changes, priorities, and any issues that arise., • Support overtime and Saturday work as needed to meet production and shipping demands. Essential Skills • At least 6 months of recent labor or forklift experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or similar environment., • Proven ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently., • Ability to pass an onsite forklift test, including driving forward and backward through cones and lifting and setting down a pallet accurately., • Experience with material handling tasks such as loading, unloading, staging, and general labor., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed throughout the shift., • Ability to stand on your feet for the entire shift and perform frequent bending and repetitive motions., • Willingness and ability to work up to 10 hours of overtime when required., • Availability to work Saturdays as part of the regular schedule when needed., • Basic ability to read and understand shipping paperwork and follow written and verbal instructions., • Comfort using hand tools such as drills and screwdrivers for basic container repair., • Reliability and consistency in attendance and communication, especially in a fluctuating workflow environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience in container management, racking warehouses, or similar operations is beneficial., • Familiarity with using hand scanners or RF devices for tracking and processing inventory., • Comfort working in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks., • Strong attention to detail to ensure the correct containers and racks are processed and shipped., • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and fluctuating workload throughout the day.Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Davenport, IA.
