The Company serves a diverse commercial and military customer base from its Global EMI Shielding Technology Center located in Tampa, Florida. Every detail of the company’s one-of-a-kind manufacturing facility is tailor-engineered to streamline and improve customer service, engineering and manufacturing processes. POSITION SUMMARY: The Controller is responsible to assist with the financial affairs and accounting operations of the organization. Maintains a system to retain financial reports and implement a comprehensive set of controls and budgets to mitigate risk. Responsible for the preparation of financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements and reports with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. This position ensures compliance of the organization with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other applicable standards and legislation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Manages the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, Human Resources, and Operations, etc., • Maintains current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards., • Supervises employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, journal entries, and budgeting duties., • Develops internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting., • Prepares or directs preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies., • Provides direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies and procedures and efficient control and utilization of financial resources., • Analyzes the financial details of past, present, and expected operations to identify development opportunities and areas where improvement is needed., • Advises management on short-term and long-term financial objectives, policies, and actions., • Monitors financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met., • Evaluates needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and makes appropriate recommendations., • Performs budget vs. actual analysis for the Corporate Division on a monthly basis., • Prepares various cash, AP discount, and capitalization reports on a monthly basis., • Reviews and approves applications for new credit arrangements., • Assists with annual review of inventory and analyzes variances in the ERP system. Calculates variances and reports significant issues to management., • Prepares annual budget for equipment expenditures and tracks budget variances., • Maintains established contracts for the organization., • Assists with training of accounting and administrative staff as needed. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: • Accounting and ERP software, • Adaptability, • Advanced Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet skills; intermediate MS Word and Outlook skills, • Administration and management of personnel and financial resources, • Analytical skills to synthesize complex or diverse information, • Attention to detail, • Critical thinking, • Dependability, • Interpersonal skills to interact with all team members; speaks clearly and persuasively, demonstrates group presentation skills, and conducts meetings, • Integrity, • Law and government affecting financial decisions of the organization, • Leadership, • Mathematics, • Problem solving to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather and analyze information skillfully, • Time management, • Verbal and written communication skills EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent, is desired., • CPA required or equivalent is desired., • Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by management., • Directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization. 5-10 years of experience in coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments. QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM RESPONSIBILITIES • As a member of the Quality Management System, quality procedures, requirements, work instructions, and other required documentation must be followed. Team members are responsible to be aware of the company quality policy and quality objectives in order to support the improvement projects and contribute to the overall mission of the organization. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT • Works primarily in a climate-controlled office environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential with moderate noise., • Works at a computer terminal utilizing a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Utilizes electronic mail and telephone regularly., • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the facility with occasional lifting from floor, bending, and frequent near vision use for reading and computer use at a workstation., • PPE required may include safety glasses and gloves in designated areas of the facility., • The physical demands described here are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
