Job Description & Requirements\n \n • Specialty: Post Partum\n, • Discipline: RN\n, • Start Date: 08/17/2026\n, • Duration: 13 weeks\n, • 36 hours per week\n, • Shift: 12 hours, nights\n, • Employment Type: Travel\n \n \n Required Certifications \n BLS Certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), STABLE Certification RN id /compact license \n Shift Notes \n 7p-7a, weekends as needed, first to float \n \n Mother Baby Unit – Boise Hospital (Floor 8) Unit Overview\n \n • Charting System: Epic\n, • Unit Type: Mother Baby / Postpartum\n, • Maternal Beds: 32\n, • Couplet Care: Capacity for 32 babies (rooming-in)\n Patient Volume\n \n, • Births: Approximately 350–400 deliveries per month\n Staffing & Ratios\n \n, • Follows AWHONN staffing guidelines.\n, • Standard assignment:\n \n, • 3 couplets per RN (approximately 1:6 mother/baby ratio)\n \n, • Magnesium patients:\n \n, • 1:4 ratio\n \n, • Occasionally:\n \n, • 4 couplets during discharge periods.\n, • Twin deliveries may create unique assignment ratios.\n \n Required Certifications\n \n, • BLS\n, • NRP\n, • STABLE\n Patient Population\n \n, • Postpartum mothers\n, • Magnesium sulfate patients\n, • Higher-risk maternal patients\n, • Twin deliveries\n, • Well newborns (babies requiring more intensive care are transferred to NICU)\n, • Cesarean section recovery\n, • Postpartum tubal ligations\n, • Circumcision patients\n, • Frenectomy patients\n Experience Requirements\n Must Have \n \n • Experience in a similar Mother Baby/Postpartum setting, particularly if the traveler has only one year of experience.\n \n Preferred \n \n • Magnesium sulfate experience\n, • Two or more years of postpartum experience\n Medication/Drip Management\n RNs are required to titrate drips. \n Common drips include: \n \n • Magnesium sulfate\n, • Pitocin (per postpartum protocols)\n Leadership & Support Staff\n \n, • Charge nurse is free of patient assignments.\n, • Support staff include:\n \n, • CNAs\n, • Unit Clerk/Health Unit Coordinator\n, • Discharge Nurse (days) for education\n, • Lactation Consultants (ABM model)\n, • Contracted staff for:\n \n, • Hearing screens\n, • Newborn photography\n, • Car seat safety\n, • Newborn screening\n \n, • Laboratory assists with newborn metabolic screenings.\n \n, • Unit is locked/secured.\n Provider Coverage\n \n, • Neonatologist: Available 24/7 in NICU (responds to emergencies)\n, • Newbornist/APP: Available 24/7\n, • OB Hospitalist: Available for emergencies\n, • Anesthesia: In-house 24/7\n Respiratory Support\n \n, • Mothers may occasionally require supplemental oxygen.\n, • Newborns needing more than basic oxygen support during resuscitation are transferred to the NICU.\n Telemetry\n \n, • Telemetry is rarely used.\n, • Occasionally utilized for postpartum mothers with cardiac histories.\n Scheduling\n \n, • 12-hour shifts\n \n, • Days: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM\n, • Nights: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM\n \n, • Manager creates the schedule.\n, • Travelers are scheduled where staffing gaps exist.\n, • No self-scheduling.\n Weekend Requirements\n \n, • Every other weekend (EOW) or as needed.\n Holiday Requirements\n \n, • Expected to work holidays as needed.\n Call Requirements\n \n, • No required call or standby.\n, • Opportunity to pick up extra shifts if desired.\n Floating\n Travelers are expected to: \n \n • Float to Meridian and Nampa hospitals to care for similar patient populations.\n, • Occasionally serve as patient sitters on other units.\n, • Be the first to float and first to sit.\n Dress Code\n \n, • Any solid or printed scrub color.\n, • Scrubs must be clean and professional.\n, • Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes required (no Crocs).\n Orientation\n \n, • Typically 2–3 shifts.\n, • Travelers receive orientation to the unit.\n, • Expected to float to Meridian and Nampa and serve as sitters before permanent staff.\n \n About Talent4Health\n \n A leader and innovator, offering comprehensive talent solutions for the healthcare industry across the nation.
