Job Description Job Title: Welder and Fabricator Job Description This role offers an opportunity for a skilled Welding Technician to support prototype development, precision welding, and small‑scale manufacturing activities. You will work hands-on in a collaborative R&D and manufacturing environment, contributing directly to the development and production of advanced products. Responsibilities • Perform GTAW (TIG) welding on thin‑walled aluminum and stainless steel vessels for prototype and production builds., • Interpret and work from technical design drawings, including standard welding symbols., • Operate lab presses, oxyacetylene torches, plasma cutters, and GTAW/GMAW welding equipment safely and effectively., • Assist engineering staff with prototype assembly and test setups, ensuring components meet design specifications., • Collaborate with cross‑functional project teams to meet technical performance and schedule objectives., • Partner with design engineers on the development of products for small-scale testing and larger‑scale manufacturing., • Conduct routine maintenance on welding and fabrication equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation., • Support general shop operations, including fabrication, fitting, and assembly tasks as needed., • Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall project and production goals. Essential Skills • Proficiency in GTAW (TIG) welding, particularly on thin‑walled aluminum and stainless steel., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical design drawings, including standard welding symbols., • Hands-on experience with fabrication, fitting, and assembly work in a shop or manufacturing environment., • Skilled in operating plasma cutters, oxyacetylene torches, lab presses, and welding equipment (GTAW/GMAW)., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and assemblies., • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers and cross-functional teams in an R&D and manufacturing setting., • Capability to perform routine equipment maintenance and follow safety procedures in a welding environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Welding certification or an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in welding or welding technology., • Experience with advanced welding methods such as robotic or automated welding, laser welding, or electron‑beam welding., • Strong skills with industrial equipment and general shop tools., • Experience in mechanical design, prototyping, or product assembly., • Experience with automated welding technologies is strongly preferred. Work Environment You will work at a semi climate-controlled welding station where appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times. The role follows a first-shift schedule with possible hours of 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., or 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. The environment includes the regular use of welding and fabrication equipment, industrial tools, and shop machinery in a structured, safety-focused setting.
