Carbon Steel Plate Test: • FCAW (Flux Core) – 2G, 3G, 4G, • SMAW E6010 (5P) 3G, Downhill, • SMAW E7018 – 2G, 3G, 4G Specialty Vessel Welders must be able to pass the following weld tests. 9% Nickel Plate Test: • FCAW (ENiCrMo3T1-4) - 2G, 3G, 4G, • FCAW (ENiCrMo-6) - 2G, 3G, 4G, • Must maintain a 95-100% pass rate on weld X-ray/visual exams., • Must be able to read prints and written instructions as well as follow verbal directions required to perform duties and responsibilities., • Follow welding procedure specifications when welding., • Matrix Welders will receive a competitive compensation. Rate pay will be established upon successful completion of weld test. Qualifications: • Tank Building experience, preferred., • Must obtain and maintain an active status within the drug testing program and pass background screening., • Must possess or be able to pass the Basic Safety Council Class Courses, • Must complete the Matrix Service Basic Safety training and site-specific training., • Must possess a valid TWIC card., • Site may require fire retardant clothing., • Maintain clean shaven and/or free of facial hair so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly. Physical Requirements: • Must be able to perform tasks at heights., • Work will include pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools. Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks., • Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb. Work will include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers. Work involves standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to a minimum of 8-10 hours per day, • Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time, often inside confined spaces., • Must be able to perform tasks in hot and cold temperatures. The Welder is responsible for very precise TIG Welding / Fabrication of custom chambers and/or components using customer supplied drawings and/or blueprints while holding tolerances of +/-.010 and/or .5% angular. Primary Responsibilities: Must be able to meet or exceed the requirement of the project through manual fabrication such as port alignment, scribing, cutting/coping, tacking, tuning and welding while maintaining angular tolerance's of +/- %, focal lengths and target points of +/- .010; closely collaborate with machinists throughout the manufacturing process for each phase of the project. Must be able to use Argon gas and TIG Welding procedures to connect metal components Must be able to position and clamp metal components for welding. Able to perform fusion weld, fillet welds and butt weld with full penetration. Must know the proper weld settings for welding various materials along with filler rod selection. Must be able to produce vacuum tight welds in hard-to-reach areas of chambers. Ability and understanding of how to identify the proper order of operations (identifying the main datum point / sequence of hole penetration) Must pay close attention to details on blueprints. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
