Job Description Job Title: Extrusion Machine Operator Job Description This role focuses on safely operating and monitoring an extrusion machine in a manufacturing environment while supporting consistent production output and product quality. You will work a rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts, contribute to a team-oriented culture, and follow strict safety and quality standards throughout the production process. Responsibilities • Operate an extrusion machine, including full startup, steady-state operation, and shutdown according to established procedures., • Monitor machine performance and product output to ensure consistent quality and adherence to specifications., • Perform quality checks on materials and finished products, documenting results and making adjustments as needed., • Identify and verify raw materials before use, ensuring correct materials feed into the extrusion process., • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, treating safety as the highest priority in every task., • Work closely with team members to coordinate production activities and support a collaborative work environment., • Use common sense and sound judgment to recognize and address potential safety or quality issues promptly., • Operate a 60-ton propane forklift to move raw materials, finished goods, and other items around the production area (training and certification provided)., • Support packaging and material handling activities as needed to keep production flowing smoothly., • Maintain a clean and organized work area to support safety, efficiency, and product quality., • Demonstrate reliable attendance and a positive attitude to meet performance expectations and production goals., • Follow all manufacturing policies, procedures, and work instructions to ensure consistent and compliant operations. Essential Skills • Experience operating production or manufacturing machinery, preferably extrusion equipment., • Ability to perform startup, operation, and shutdown of an extrusion machine following written and verbal instructions., • Strong commitment to safety and the ability to consistently apply safe work practices., • Capability to conduct quality checks and follow quality specifications for both machine settings and materials., • Ability to identify and handle raw materials correctly in a manufacturing environment., • Willingness and ability to operate a 60-ton propane forklift; previous forklift experience is preferred., • Manufacturing experience, with prior experience in production, machine operation, or packaging roles strongly preferred., • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic, with a focus on attitude, teamwork, and accountability., • Ability to work 12-hour shifts and remain open to working weekends as part of a rotating schedule., • Basic problem-solving skills and practical common sense, particularly as they relate to safety and production. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Previous experience as an extrusion operator or machine operator in a manufacturing setting., • Prior forklift certification or experience operating propane forklifts., • Experience in production, machine operation, packaging, or extrusion processes., • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment., • Strong attention to detail when following quality specifications and safety procedures., • Willingness to learn and participate in employer-provided forklift certification and on-the-job training. Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility where you will operate an extrusion machine and work around production equipment and a 60-ton propane forklift. The schedule follows a rotating pattern of 12-hour shifts, generally from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with additional time to reach 12 hours per day, including 10 hours of regular time and 2 hours of overtime each day. The rotation typically includes 36 hours one week (for example, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday) and 48 hours the next week (for example, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, followed by Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, then Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Candidates must be open to working weekends as part of this schedule. The facility operates with a strong safety focus and a team-based culture, where operators handle machine operation, packaging, material movement, and forklift use in a production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Exeter, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50/hr.
