Job Description Job Title: Field Service Technician - Power Generation Job Description This role provides on-site technical support for equipment, focusing on diagnostics, repair, installation, and maintenance. You will use a variety of test equipment, tools, and digital systems to identify and resolve malfunctions, perform routine installations, and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. The position requires strong customer service, problem-solving, and documentation skills, along with the ability to work proactively and adapt to diverse service environments. Responsibilities • Use a variety of test equipment to diagnose and identify equipment malfunctions, referring to schematics and manufacturers’ specifications to locate problems accurately., • Use hand tools, gauges, and instruments to analyze, repair, or replace faulty parts in accordance with established procedures., • Utilize digital tools and systems to support diagnostics, service documentation, and communication., • Check for common causes of equipment trouble, such as dirty or defective components, and take corrective action., • Clean and lubricate equipment as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation., • Perform routine equipment installations and make appropriate adjustments within normal procedures., • Ensure all work complies with safety standards and guidelines while working on generator installations and field service tasks., • Document service activities, findings, repairs, and customer interactions accurately and in a timely manner., • Respond to customer requests with a sense of urgency and provide a level of service that customers describe as excellent., • Resolve common customer problems and escalate issues according to established problem reporting and escalation practices., • Apply a disciplined approach to problem solving, using accepted procedures for problem analysis and resolution., • Identify opportunities to take initiative in addressing service needs and improving processes within the scope of the role., • Manage time effectively to handle multiple service calls, installations, and maintenance tasks., • Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams regarding issues, solutions, and next steps., • Adapt to changing service environments, technologies, and customer requirements while maintaining high-quality work. Essential Skills • Experience using test equipment, schematics, and manufacturers’ specifications to diagnose and identify equipment malfunctions., • Proficiency with hand tools, gauges, and instruments for technical repair and replacement of faulty parts., • Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting and diagnostics for generator installations and field service work., • Working knowledge of safety compliance requirements related to field service and equipment maintenance., • Strong technical repair skills with the ability to perform routine installations and adjustments., • Effective communication skills for interacting with customers and internal teams., • Solid time management skills to prioritize and complete service tasks efficiently., • Problem-solving skills with a basic understanding of disciplined problem-solving approaches and escalation practices., • Ability to provide service excellence, meeting or exceeding customer needs and expectations., • Digital proficiency, including the use of digital tools and systems for diagnostics and documentation., • Attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy., • Adaptability to different work environments, tasks, and customer needs. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Degree or equivalent experience desired., • Experience in generator installation and field service environments., • Demonstrated initiative, including the ability to seek out work, take proactive action, and drive tasks to completion., • Ability to describe and apply problem-solving techniques relevant to operational and process issues., • Experience documenting customer complaints and service actions in a timely manner., • Understanding of how initiative contributes to success in a technical service role. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Midland, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
