Job DescriptionJob Title: Electrical Assembly Apprentice – Weekend 1st ShiftJob Description This role offers a structured Electrical Assembly Apprentice training academy followed by placement on a weekend 1st shift production team. You will assist with mechanical and electrical builds of customer products, learning to read and interpret point-to-point wiring schematics and diagrams for 480V, 120V, and 24V systems. Through in-depth, hands-on training, you will develop skills in crimping, pulling, terminating, and installing UL panels and sub-assemblies, ultimately contributing to the assembly, wiring, and testing of industrial control panels and switchgear systems. Responsibilities • Assemble, wire, and test industrial control panels and switchgear systems with a focus on 3-phase power distribution., • Pull, route, crimp, install, and test wiring using point-to-point schematics to meet customer specifications., • Use tools such as multimeters, wire strippers, crimpers, torque wrenches, and other hand and power tools to complete electrical and mechanical assembly tasks., • Perform part replacement on tools and equipment as needed and according to established schedules., • Resolve routine questions and problems, referring more complex issues to higher-level team members or supervisors., • Work under direct, close supervision with output frequently monitored to ensure quality and adherence to standards., • Maintain documentation and update panel layouts and related records as needed., • Follow manufacturing protocols and lean production principles to support efficient, standardized workflows., • Follow detailed written and verbal instructions, including visual aids, diagrams, blueprints, graphs, and electrical schematics., • Ensure the assigned work area remains clean and organized in accordance with 5S standards., • Comply with all procedures within the company security policy and adhere to safety and standard operating procedures., • Coordinate with teammates to organize and complete tasks that require multiple team members, working effectively within small group teams., • Keep inventory personnel informed about spare parts inventory levels and locations to support timely order fulfillment., • Perform real-time point-to-point testing to verify accurate wiring and identify any issues with wires, terminations, or housing., • Participate fully in the two-week training academy, meeting all expectations for attendance, engagement, and performance., • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production and team objectives.Essential Skills, • Basic electrical wiring or assembly experience preferred, with a strong interest in developing advanced skills., • Strong initiative and motivation to learn a skilled trade through an in-depth training academy., • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in a production environment., • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals., • Ability and drive to learn to interpret blueprints, graphs, schematics, and other technical documentation related to electrical assembly., • Comfort working with electrical schematics and point-to-point wiring diagrams for 480V, 120V, and 24V systems., • Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions, including visual aids, diagrams, and standardized work procedures., • Reliability in adhering to shift schedules and training requirements, with consistent attendance and punctuality.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with electrical assembly, panel wiring, and control panel building is a plus., • Familiarity with mechanical assembly and production environments is beneficial., • Experience using hand and power tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, multimeters, torque wrenches, and soldering tools., • Exposure to electronics or electronic assembly, including soldering and panel builder work, is advantageous., • Comfort working in team-based cell production environments with 5–7 technicians per work cell., • Interest in applying lean manufacturing and 5S principles in daily work., • Willingness to participate in classroom-style and hands-on training, including safety, electrical wiring standards, and testing protocols.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates on a weekend 1st shift schedule, Friday through Sunday from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a shift differential and policies that reward completing the full scheduled hours. The training academy is conducted on site in a classroom-style lab environment where you learn safety, electrical wiring standards, and protocols, including reading point-to-point diagrams, correctly labeling wiring, and proper testing procedures. Hands-on training involves using tools, adding ferrules, crimping, terminating, landing wiring, and aligning wiring in panels for clear tracing. Expectations during training mirror a professional classroom setting, requiring full engagement and adherence to conduct standards. After training, you will work in an extremely clean, temperature-controlled production environment. Electrical assembly takes place in cell stations with large, organized work areas, and teams of approximately 5–7 technicians collaborate to assemble units according to specification. You will remain primarily local to your assigned cell unit throughout the shift, wiring different sections of the unit using point-to-point schematics and performing real-time testing. All necessary tools and materials are provided on site, so outside tools are not required, and attire must align with professional standards that exclude profanity or inappropriate paraphernalia. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.05 - $31.05/hr.
