Job Description Job Title: Foreman Job Description This role oversees daily field operations on large-scale earthwork, site development, renewable energy, landfill, industrial, and civil construction projects. The foreman leads field crews, coordinates equipment and labor resources, ensures work is completed safely and efficiently, interprets construction plans and specifications, and maintains production schedules while delivering high-quality results. Responsibilities • Lead and supervise field crews of approximately 10-20+ operators and laborers on active construction sites., • Plan and coordinate daily work activities, including equipment assignments, crew deployment, and subcontractor oversight., • Oversee earthmoving, excavation, grading, drainage, and utility installation work to ensure accuracy, quality, and productivity., • Read and interpret construction blueprints, grading plans, site drawings, specifications, and survey layouts to guide field operations., • Monitor production, track progress against schedules, and adjust resources to meet project milestones and deadlines., • Ensure strict adherence to safety policies, OSHA requirements, and company procedures across all field activities., • Provide strong safety leadership by conducting daily safety discussions, promoting safe work practices, and addressing hazards promptly., • Coordinate and communicate effectively with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, and other stakeholders regarding field progress and issues., • Troubleshoot problems in the field, including equipment, constructability, and logistical challenges, and make timely decisions to keep work moving., • Support the setup, operation, and proper use of construction equipment, tools, and machinery, including hand tools and heavy equipment., • Oversee landfill, solar, power generation, roadway, or heavy industrial project activities as required by the specific project., • Maintain accurate daily reports, including production tracking, labor and equipment usage, and safety documentation., • Promote a high standard of workmanship and quality control in all phases of construction., • Assist with implementation and use of GPS machine control and grade checking where applicable., • Foster a collaborative team environment, provide direction and coaching to crew members, and help resolve on-site conflicts., • Adapt work plans to changing weather and site conditions while maintaining safety and productivity. Essential Skills • 5+ years of foreman or lead operator experience in heavy civil construction., • Proven experience leading field crews of 10–20+ operators and laborers., • Hands-on experience with earthmoving, excavation, grading, drainage, and utility installation projects., • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, grading plans, site drawings, specifications, and survey layouts., • Experience working on large-scale civil construction, landfill, solar, power generation, roadway, or heavy industrial projects., • Strong knowledge of equipment operations, production tracking, and field logistics., • Demonstrated ability in daily planning, crew coordination, and subcontractor oversight., • Strong safety leadership with working knowledge of OSHA compliance and safe work practices., • Ability to manage schedules, allocate resources, and meet project milestones in a fast-paced environment., • Effective communication skills for interaction with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, and field personnel., • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with mechanical and industrial tools and processes., • Ability to use hand tools and operate or oversee operation of construction equipment as needed., • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation., • Ability to work in changing weather and site conditions on active construction sites., • Strong leadership and conflict-resolution abilities, with sound problem-solving and decision-making skills in active construction environments., • Basic computer operation skills for completing daily reports, production tracking, and safety documentation. Additional Skills & Qualifications • OSHA 30 certification preferred., • Experience with GPS machine control and grade checking is a plus., • Experience in landfill operations or landfill gas-related work is beneficial., • Experience in renewable energy or solar-related construction projects is advantageous., • Familiarity with industrial and mechanical systems used in heavy civil and infrastructure projects., • Comfort working with modern construction technology and equipment., • Ability to maintain detailed documentation, including daily reports and production records., • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, crews, and priorities on complex projects. Work Environment This role operates primarily in an outdoor construction environment on active heavy civil construction sites. Work is performed year-round in varying and sometimes challenging weather conditions, requiring adaptability to changing site conditions. The foreman interacts daily with equipment operators, laborers, subcontractors, and field leadership in a fast-paced setting focused on safety, production, and quality. Most work occurs at a single project location, with occasional movement between different areas of the same site as project needs evolve. The environment includes regular exposure to heavy equipment, mechanical and industrial operations, and the use of hand tools and construction technology, including modern equipment and, where applicable, GPS-enabled systems. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Brunswick, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
