Job Description Job Title: Alarm Foreman / Fire Alarm Installer Job Description Seeking an experienced Alarm Foreman / Fire Alarm Installer to handle the complete installation, programming, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of fire alarm and access control systems. This role involves hands-on field work from rough-in through final inspection and customer turnover, requiring strong knowledge of life safety codes, low-voltage systems, and the ability to work independently on commercial and institutional projects. Responsibilities • Install, program, test, commission, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems from rough-in through final inspection and customer turnover., • Perform complete fire alarm installations including conduit bending, cable pulling, wire termination, and device mounting., • Install and program access control systems, including controllers, readers, and related hardware., • Install fire alarm and life safety devices such as pull stations, strobes, horn/strobes, smoke detectors, and heat detectors., • Program and commission fire alarm panels, ensuring proper system functionality and compliance with applicable codes., • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical drawings, and riser diagrams to plan and execute installations accurately., • Conduct testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of low-voltage systems, including fire alarm, access control, and integrated solutions., • Integrate access control, CCTV, and fire alarm systems to provide cohesive security and life safety solutions., • Verify compliance with NFPA 72, NEC, local fire codes, and life safety requirements throughout all phases of work., • Work on commercial construction sites and existing occupied facilities, coordinating with other trades and stakeholders as needed., • Interact with customers on-site, explaining system operation, addressing questions, and ensuring a professional experience., • Maintain safe work practices while using ladders, lifts, and construction equipment, and follow all site safety guidelines., • Travel locally between job sites to support multiple projects and respond to service or commissioning needs. Essential Skills • Minimum of 3+ years of fire alarm installation experience in commercial or similar environments., • Hands-on experience installing and servicing fire alarm systems from rough-in through final inspection., • Experience with access control system installation and programming., • Proficiency in conduit bending, wire pulling, cable termination, and field troubleshooting., • Ability to install and configure fire alarm panels, including programming and commissioning., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and riser diagrams accurately., • Strong troubleshooting skills for low-voltage, fire alarm, and access control systems., • Knowledge of NFPA 72 requirements and National Electrical Code (NEC)., • Working knowledge of local fire codes and life safety requirements., • Valid driver's license for local travel between job sites., • Experience with commercial construction environments and coordination with other trades. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with Fire Alarm Installation using systems such as Notifier, Simplex, Siemens, Edwards, Honeywell, Bosch, and similar platforms., • Experience with Access Control Installation & Programming using systems such as CCure, Genetec, Software House, Avigilon, and comparable solutions., • Experience with testing, inspection, and troubleshooting of low-voltage systems, including integrated security and fire technologies., • Familiarity with integration of access control, CCTV, and fire alarm systems., • NICET Certification (Level I–IV) preferred., • Manufacturer-specific certifications on fire alarm or access control systems preferred., • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training preferred., • Fire alarm programming experience beyond basic panel setup is highly desirable., • Experience with CCTV and broader security systems is a strong plus. Work Environment Work primarily takes place on commercial construction sites, existing occupied facilities, and industrial buildings, as well as schools, healthcare facilities, and office environments. The role involves a combination of indoor field work and customer-facing interaction, requiring a professional appearance and demeanor when working in occupied spaces. You will regularly use ladders, lifts, and standard construction tools and equipment while adhering to site safety protocols. Local travel between job sites is expected, and you will operate within varied conditions ranging from new construction to fully operational buildings. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Jersey City, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $44.00/hr.
