Job Description Position Summary The Financial Analyst supports the credit union's financial planning, analytics, accounting, regulatory reporting, asset-liability management, and decision-support functions. This role prepares and analyzes financial and management reports, develops forecasts and analytical models, monitors key financial performance indicators and risks, supports budgeting and long-range planning, and ensures data integrity across financial systems. The position partners with cross-functional teams to provide actionable recommendations, support strategic initiatives, improve processes, and uphold accounting standards, regulatory requirements, confidentiality, and the credit union and mission and values. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Financial Reporting, Performance Analysis, and Management Insight, • Prepare, analyze, and present monthly financial and management reports with commentary on financial performance, trends, risks, opportunities, and key balance sheet metrics., • Analyze loan and deposit portfolio performance, investment portfolio results, margin trends, noninterest income and expense drivers, and economic factors impacting credit union performance., • Perform variance analyses of actual results versus budget, forecast, and prior-period results; identify root causes and communicate findings and recommendations to management., • Monitor key performance indicators and financial risks, and prepare analyses, reports, and presentations for executive leadership, committees, and management. Budgeting, Forecasting, and Strategic Planning • Support budgeting, forecasting, quarterly budget updates, and long-range planning by partnering with business units to evaluate key business drivers and maintain accurate financial projections., • Collaborate with management to develop multi-year financial projections aligned with the credit union strategic plan., • Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models, dashboards, and analytical tools to support forecasting, planning, performance measurement, and strategic decision-making., • Conduct financial evaluations of business initiatives, products, investments, and strategic projects using methodologies such as NPV, ROI, profitability, and scenario analysis. Profitability, Pricing, and Decision Support • Support development and maintenance of profitability, pricing, allocation, and performance measurement models to optimize financial results and member value., • Prepare cost analyses, profitability analyses, and other decision-support tools for management and business units., • Partner with cross-functional teams to gather financial and operational data, provide actionable recommendations, and support organizational objectives. Asset Liability Management, Liquidity, and Investments • Coordinate with Asset Liability Management (ALM) vendors and internal management to ensure timely and accurate data submissions., • Monitor and analyze ALM metrics, including interest rate risk, liquidity, net interest income sensitivity, and balance sheet performance under various scenarios., • Produce liquidity forecasts and reports to support daily and long-term funding decisions, including monitoring cash positions and liquidity sources and uses., • Assist with investment portfolio monitoring, reporting, and analysis as assigned. Accounting, Data Integrity, and Regulatory Support • Maintain budgeting, planning, ALM, and financial reporting data to ensure integrity, alignment with the general ledger, and compliance with accounting standards., • Perform accounting functions including account reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, balancing, and monthly or year-end close support., • Prepare and maintain schedules, spreadsheets, and supporting documentation for internal, external, regulatory, and management reporting requirements, including Call Report support as assigned., • Validate data imports into financial analysis, allowance, accounting, and reporting software applications, • Systems, Process Improvement, and Collaboration, • Extract, validate, reconcile, and analyze data from financial, accounting, and operational systems using available reporting tools and technology platforms., • Identify and support process improvement, automation, and documentation initiatives that enhance accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and business continuity., • Partner with Information Technology and vendors to troubleshoot reporting issues, improve data quality, and support system implementations, testing, upgrades, and optimization., • Cross-train on key accounting and financial functions to ensure continuity of critical operations., • Compliance, Audit, Confidentiality, and Professional Development, • Support internal and external auditors, examiners, and regulators by preparing documentation, schedules, analyses, and reports required for examinations and audits., • Maintain strict confidentiality of member, employee, and organizational information and model service-standard behaviors., • Remain current on credit union operations, accounting standards, regulatory requirements, financial industry trends, and best practices., • Complete required training and perform other duties and special projects as assigned., • Qualifications, • Education and Certifications, • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; or achievement of formal industry-recognized certifications considered equivalent to a bachelor's degree, such as accounting certifications in lieu of a degree., • Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, and progressively responsible credit union, accounting, or financial analysis experience may be considered., • Experience, • Two to four years of similar or related experience in financial analysis, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, or related financial functions., • Experience in a credit union, community bank, or financial institution preferred., • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities, • Advanced knowledge of financial analytics, budgeting, forecasting, modeling, performance measurement, and financial reporting., • Working knowledge of GAAP and financial institution regulatory reporting requirements preferred., • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling, data analysis, dashboards, and reporting; proficiency with Word, Outlook, and Access., • Experience with SQL, business intelligence tools, accounting software, ERP systems, or ALM/reporting platforms preferred., • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy., • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly and tactfully to management., • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment., • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and work both independently and collaboratively across departments.
