Job DescriptionJob Title: DriverJob Description The Driver safely operates company vehicles along assigned collection routes to empty donation bins and transport collected items to designated facilities. This role combines professional driving, general labor, and customer service, requiring attention to safety, accurate documentation, and effective communication with supervisors, warehouse staff, and community partners. The Driver works primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions and plays a key role in ensuring donated goods are handled, moved, and delivered efficiently and respectfully. Responsibilities • Safely operate a company van and box truck along assigned collection routes., • Empty donation bins and securely load collected items into the vehicle., • Transport donated goods to designated facilities and unloading areas., • Conduct thorough daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle safety inspections., • Complete route logs, collection documentation, and inspection records accurately and on time., • Use route management software and GPS tools to navigate and optimize assigned routes., • Load, unload, and move donated goods safely, including lifting items up to 50 pounds regularly., • Communicate effectively and professionally with supervisors, warehouse personnel, site partners, and community members., • Report route issues, delays, and safety concerns promptly to the appropriate team members., • Maintain a professional presence and positive attitude at donation sites and in the community., • Follow all safety procedures, DOT-related guidelines, and company policies during driving and loading/unloading activities., • Work outdoors throughout the day in varying weather conditions while maintaining productivity and safety., • Assist with general labor tasks such as organizing inventory and supporting warehouse operations as needed., • Operate loading and unloading equipment, and forklifts if certified, in a safe and compliant manner., • Perform additional duties as assigned to support route delivery, transport, and collection operations.Essential Skills, • Demonstrated safe driving and vehicle operation skills, including strong defensive driving practices., • Ability to navigate assigned routes efficiently using GPS and route optimization tools., • Knowledge of vehicle safety inspections, reporting procedures, and DOT safety practices., • Strong time management skills with the ability to complete routes on schedule and manage daily workload independently., • Effective organizational skills to prioritize stops and maintain accurate documentation., • Professional communication skills for interacting with site partners, community members, supervisors, and team members., • Ability to report route issues and safety concerns promptly and clearly., • Physical stamina to repeatedly lift, move, and transport donated goods, including lifting up to 50 pounds on a regular basis., • Comfort working outdoors throughout the day in varying weather conditions., • High reliability and accountability, including excellent attendance and punctuality., • Consistent adherence to safety and operational procedures and willingness to take ownership of assigned routes., • Ability to use route management software and maintain collection logs and inspection records accurately., • Basic proficiency with mobile devices for communication and documentation., • Experience with driving, loading and unloading trucks, general labor, and route delivery operations.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in donation collection, delivery, logistics, or warehouse operations., • Previous nonprofit or community-service experience., • Knowledge of local roadways and common delivery routes., • Experience using GPS and route optimization software to improve efficiency., • Forklift certification (preferred but not required)., • Customer service experience in a community-facing or service-oriented role., • Bilingual communication skills., • Experience with inventory handling, transport, and route delivery., • Exposure to DOT safety training or related compliance programs.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is primarily field-based, with most of the day spent driving company vans or box trucks along established collection routes and working outdoors at donation sites.
