Job Description Job Title: Material Handler Job Description The Material Handler works on the production and warehouse floor to support the manufacturing and handling of granite slabs. This role focuses on safely loading, moving, and measuring materials, assisting machine operators, and maintaining a clean and organized shop environment. Pay: 17.50/hr Shift: 7:00am to 5:00pm Monday-Friday MUST be confortable working Saturdays Responsibilities • Assist with the production and handling of granite slabs on the shop and warehouse floor., • Load, unload, and move granite slabs and other materials safely from one location to another within the facility., • Support operators as they move slabs and operate machinery by positioning materials and ensuring work areas are clear., • Use a tape measure to check and verify measurements of granite slabs according to template layouts, following training and instructions., • Check measurements from template layouts to ensure slabs meet required specifications before further processing., • Perform general material handling tasks, including staging, organizing, and relocating slabs and components., • Carry out general labor duties such as assisting with machine operation, basic assembly tasks, and supporting production activities as needed., • Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, and other shop equipment safely after appropriate training., • Help with CNC and other machine operations by preparing materials and maintaining a safe work area., • Maintain housekeeping standards by sweeping, cleaning, and keeping the production and warehouse areas free of debris., • Take out trash, move scrap or discarded slab pieces to designated dump or disposal areas, and keep walkways clear. Essential Skills • Bilingual communication skills in Spanish and another language, with the ability to communicate effectively with a primarily Spanish-speaking team., • Ability to perform material handling tasks, including loading, unloading, and moving heavy granite slabs and related materials., • Proficiency in using and reading a tape measure accurately to verify measurements against template layouts., • Capability to check measurements from granite slab templates and confirm they match required specifications., • Experience or strong ability in general labor and general production work in a warehouse or shop environment., • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and repeatedly throughout the shift., • Comfort working with basic hand tools and power tools in a production or construction setting., • Willingness and ability to assist with machine operation and basic machine operating tasks after training., • Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization through sweeping, cleaning, and general housekeeping duties. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in material handling within a warehouse, production, construction, or manufacturing environment., • Work history in general production, assembly, or construction work., • Familiarity with granite, stone, or similar materials in a fabrication or construction setting., • Experience using grinders, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively., • Exposure to CNC operation or machine operating environments., • Experience operating forklifts or an interest in learning forklift operation., • Ability to perform housekeeping tasks consistently, including sweeping, cleaning, and trash removal., • Comfort working in a bilingual Spanish environment and collaborating closely with Spanish-speaking teammates., • Interest in developing skills to move into roles such as forklift operator, cutter, machine operator, CNC operator, or lead over time. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tallahassee, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.
