Atlanta Nearest Major Market: Atlanta The Local Truck Driver position will handle local deliveries within a specific area with care, professionalism, and precision. Benefits of Driving with DSV include: • Starting pay of $25.00 - $30.00 an hour (based on experience), • Medical, dental, and vision insurance (eligible on the first of the month following 30 days of employment), • Company paid short-term & long-term disability and life insurance, • 401K plan with up to 5% company match, • Generous PTO package – including vacation, sick time, birthday holiday, 3 floating holidays, and 6 paid holidays a year, • Bi-weekly pay with Daily Pay options, • $1,000 Referral Bonus Program, • Cell phone allowance, • Paid orientation including transportation, lodging, and meals Essential duties and responsibilities include: • Driving semi-tractor/trailers for up to 11 hours after 10 hours off-duty on runs of up to one week or more, • P&D locally, • Backing trailers to customer dock, • Maintaining compliance with Federal and State safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior, • Communicating with customer representatives in a pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner, • Communicating and coordinating with dispatchers, • Complying with all DOT requirements including drug and alcohol testing (subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing), • Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle, • Ensuring that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving, • Swinging and securing trailer doors, • Performing other duties as required Qualifications and work experience include: • CDL A License Required, • A minimum of 2 years CDL A driving experience within the last 4 years, • 3+ years CDL A driving experience preferred, • Meet D.O.T. qualification requirements, FMCSR 391.41, • Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions, • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to handle sensitive cargo with care, • Detail-oriented mindset required, • Must have a TWIC or eligible to obtain a TWIC card within 90 days, if required Physical demands include: • Sitting for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle, • Using hands and fingers to operate a steering wheel, controls, GPS devices, and other on-board equipment, • Reaching with hands and arms, • Climbing in and out of the cab and trailer, • Stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch during inspections, coupling/uncoupling, or loading/unloading activities, • Communicating effectively using verbal and hearing skills, • Seeing at a distance for safe driving, as well as close vision for reading documents, using electronic logs, and performing inspections, • Carrying, pushing, or pulling freight weighing 1-125 pounds, • Lifting up to 50 pounds, • Frequently reaching for freight at waist level and occasionally above shoulder height or below waist level, • Shifting manual transmission and operating foot pedals, • Frequently squatting or crouching to handle and position freight, • Climbing in and out of over-the-road tractor, 4 to 6 feet, 8 to 10 times daily with assistance of various steps and handholds; occasionally bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing, • Conducting pre-trip inspection for a tractor and trailer, • Being able to hook/unhook various commercial vehicle combinations, manually lower/raise landing gear, operate the fifth wheel release level, lock/release pintle-hooks, fuel vehicles and check engine oil/coolant levels, perform preventative maintenance, • Being able to spend at least 5% of day standing and 5% of the day walking on surfaces such as wood, metal and concrete, • Reaching above shoulder level, at waist level and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck Work environment includes: • Exposure to diesel fumes, airborne particles, and occasionally harsh weather conditions while loading or unloading, • Time spent both inside the truck cab—which may involve extended periods of sitting and exposure to engine noise and vibration—and outside at customer sites, terminals, or on public roadways, • Noise levels can vary from quiet inside the cab to moderate or loud at delivery or pick-up locations The expected base pay range is $25.00 - $30.00/ Hourly. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, geographic location and other objective business considerations.
