Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description The Maintenance Technician performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on metal manufacturing machines, cranes, and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations across the plant. Responsibilities • Perform preventative maintenance on metal manufacturing machines, heavy equipment, and cranes to minimize downtime and extend equipment life., • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues on production machinery, motors, sprockets, chains, and other moving components., • Conduct crane service activities, including inspecting components, lubricating parts, and verifying proper functionality of lifting equipment., • Utilize computerized diagnostic tools to assess crane condition and identify mechanical and electrical problems., • Replace worn or damaged parts on cranes and other heavy machinery, ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently., • Maintain detailed logs of maintenance and repair work, documenting inspections, parts replaced, and corrective actions taken., • Adhere to strict safety protocols at all times and ensure all maintenance and repair work is performed safely and in compliance with facility standards., • Identify and resolve issues with building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other mechanical systems, to maintain a safe and functional environment., • Maintain and repair plumbing systems, including fixtures, pipes, and drainage systems, to prevent leaks and ensure proper flow., • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, and other electrical components, to ensure consistent and safe power supply., • Perform minor facility repairs such as patching walls, painting, and replacing hardware to keep the building in good condition., • Conduct regular inspections of building systems and equipment to detect potential issues before they lead to failures., • Respond to facility and equipment emergencies, diagnosing issues quickly and performing necessary repairs., • Maintain equipment and tools in good working order, including boom lifts and other mechanical service tools., • Continuously monitor the facility and production areas to identify maintenance needs and proactively address them., • Collaborate with operations and other departments to schedule maintenance activities that minimize disruption to production.Essential Skills, • Hands-on experience performing maintenance and repairs on heavy machinery, metal manufacturing equipment, and cranes., • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair issues involving motors, sprockets, chains, and other mechanical components., • Proficiency in electrical work, including troubleshooting and repairing wiring, lighting, and electrical systems., • Experience with plumbing maintenance and repair, including fixtures, pipes, and drainage systems., • Knowledge of facilities maintenance practices, including building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety., • Ability to perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including lubrication, inspection, and adjustment of equipment., • Skill in using computerized diagnostic tools to evaluate crane and equipment condition and identify problems., • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed maintenance and repair logs., • Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to follow and uphold strict safety protocols., • Capacity to work both in a shop setting and in the field, supporting equipment and facility needs.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience as a crane mechanic or facilities mechanic is highly beneficial., • Background in maintenance repair within industrial or manufacturing environments., • Familiarity with boom lifts and other heavy equipment used in maintenance operations., • Understanding of building infrastructure systems and their upkeep, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems., • Ability to conduct inspections, respond to emergencies, and maintain equipment in a fast-paced environment., • Strong problem-solving skills and the initiative to identify and address maintenance needs proactively., • Willingness to participate in apprenticeships, trade-related training, and professional development programs.Why Work Here? Work Environment This role primarily operates on a third shift schedule with an evening start time around 8:00–9:00 p.m., with initial training provided on first shift. The position is active and hands-on, requiring continuous movement throughout the facility to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on machinery and building systems. You are expected to stay engaged by seeking out new tasks or asking for additional work once a job is completed. Work takes place in an industrial manufacturing environment with heavy equipment, cranes, and building systems, using tools such as boom lifts, diagnostic equipment, and standard mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tools. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Carson, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
