ppThe Life Science Leader, CEMENA is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategic development and profitable growth of Chubb's Life Science practice across the Continental Europe, Middle East and North Africa region. The role holder serves as the primary subject matter expert and commercial lead for the Life Science segment, working in close partnership with underwriting teams, distribution partners, and global practice leads. /p pOperating within a matrix structure, these individuals shape the regional Life Science underwriting agenda — setting standards, building market presence, and translating Chubb's global capabilities into locally relevant, technically sound solutions. The role combines deep underwriting expertise with strong commercial acumen and the ability to lead through influence across multiple jurisdictions and cultures. /p pThis position demands both strategic vision and hands‑on engagement with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders. /p pReports directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer CEMENA. /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liDefine and execute the Life Science underwriting strategy for CEMENA, ensuring alignment with Chubb's global practice direction and regional business objectives. /li liManage and optimise the regional Life Science portfolio — driving growth, retention, and profitability through disciplined risk selection, strategic account prioritisation, and consistent application of underwriting guidelines. /li liMonitor portfolio performance through rigorous loss analysis, pricing adequacy reviews, and data‑driven insights; identify trends, articulate findings clearly to senior leadership, and recommend corrective actions where required. /li liSet and uphold underwriting standards, documentation practices, and thought process quality in line with Chubb's policies and the regulatory requirements. /li /ul h3Business Development Client Engagement /h3 ul liIdentify, prioritise, and develop new business opportunities across the Life Science segment — working with brokers, agents, distribution partners, and direct clients to maximise the regional pipeline. /li liBuild and nurture trusted, long‑term relationships with key decision makers, influencers, and buyers within the Life Science industry and the broader insurance marketplace. /li liLead complex account negotiations and coverage design discussions, delivering tailored solutions that balance client needs with underwriting profitability and Chubb's risk appetite. /li liRepresent Chubb as a credible thought leader in the Life Science space through client engagements, industry events, market presentations, and strategic broker dialogue. /li liApply underwriting expertise to assess, price, and structure Life Science risks with technical rigour, sound judgement, and in full alignment with Chubb's risk appetite and strategy. /li liEvaluate risk profiles, exposure structures, and coverage terms — designing solutions that meet client and distribution partner needs while generating underwriting profit for the organisation. /li liDrive consistency and quality in the regional underwriting approach, mentoring and guiding underwriting colleagues where applicable and promoting best practice across the CEMENA community. /li liStay current on Life Science industry trends, emerging exposures, regulatory developments, competitor positioning, and market pricing dynamics across all relevant CEMENA markets. /li /ul h3Stakeholder Collaboration Matrix Leadership /h3 ul liWork effectively within Chubb's matrix organisation, collaborating with country leaders, product heads, claims, legal, and global practice teams to deliver cohesive, high‑quality solutions. /li liCommunicate complex underwriting and risk information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences — from senior executives and clients to distribution partners and country teams. /li liContribute to regional and global Life Science initiatives, sharing market intelligence, loss insights, and underwriting best practices to strengthen Chubb's overall practice capability. /li liSupport the Chief Underwriting Officer, CEMENA in shaping the broader underwriting agenda, providing regular and transparent reporting on Life Science portfolio performance and strategic developments. /li /ul h3Required Skills and Experience /h3 ul liA demonstrable track record in building and leading a specialty practice or product line across multiple markets within a matrix or international organisation — encompassing risk selection, pricing, loss analysis, coverage design, and strategic account management over a sustained period. /li liProven business development capability: identifying opportunities, cultivating broker and client relationships, and converting pipelines into profitable, long‑term growth. /li liDeep understanding of the Life Science industry landscape — including product liability exposures, clinical trial risks, key risk drivers, and the regulatory environment across CEMENA jurisdictions — complemented by solid knowledge of insurance and reinsurance market dynamics, competitor positioning, and emerging trends. /li liStrong technical underwriting skills across risk assessment, coverage design, and pricing methodologies, with the ability to interpret claims data, loss trends, and portfolio analytics to derive actionable, evidence‑based insights. /li liExceptional relationship‑building skills, with the ability to cultivate trusted partnerships across cultures, languages, and geographies — and the commercial instinct to align client and broker needs with the organisation's profitability objectives. /li liA confident, credible communicator who conveys complex risk and coverage of matters with clarity and precision, presents impact to senior audiences, and negotiates mutually satisfactory outcomes. /li liDecisive and analytically rigorous: applies structured critical thinking to complex underwriting challenges, evaluates alternatives objectively, and acts with confidence under uncertainty. /li liHighly adaptable and collaborative — equally comfortable driving alignment in a matrixed, multi‑jurisdictional environment and adjusting strategy in response to evolving market conditions, without losing sight of long‑term objectives. /li liA university degree in a relevant discipline — life sciences, biology, chemistry, engineering, law, or business /li liFluency in English is essential;
