Job Description This role offers an opportunity for an experienced Stick Welder to work on diverse welding projects in both shop and field environments. You will use your technical expertise, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills to complete structural and pipe welding assignments safely and efficiently while traveling frequently to various job sites. Responsibilities • Analyze blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan accurate welding layouts., • Select appropriate welding processes, tools, and equipment for each project based on materials and specifications., • Prepare materials using grinders and other tools to ensure they meet exact dimensions and quality standards., • Perform stick welding in vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions while maintaining high quality and consistency., • Inspect and test welds to verify structural integrity and compliance with project requirements., • Repair and maintain structural components, machinery, and related equipment as needed., • Keep welding equipment and tools in proper working condition to minimize downtime and ensure safety., • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in both shop and field environments., • Collaborate closely with team members and supervisors to meet project schedules and deadlines., • Manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting while maintaining strong attention to detail., • Travel to various job sites, often 50%–70% of the time, to complete field welding assignments., • Follow all safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment at all times. Essential Skills • Minimum of 3 years of professional stick welding experience., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints., • Demonstrated ability to perform vertical, horizontal, and overhead welding., • Experience with structural steel and production welding environments., • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team., • Commitment to safety, including consistent use of proper protective equipment and adherence to safety procedures., • Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination with team members., • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education., • Valid Class E driver’s license (or equivalent) within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record., • Strong math and literacy skills., • Willingness and ability to travel 50%–70% of the time., • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials., • Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders or platforms as required by the job., • Ability to operate mechanical tools and equipment for extended periods, up to 12 hours a day when required. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Welding certification, such as AWS, preferred., • Experience with pipe welding in addition to structural welding., • Skills in TIG welding for specialized applications., • Experience with MIG welding processes., • Background in fabrication work, including stainless steel and structural steel fabrication., • Comfort working in both production and field environments., • Interest in ongoing skill development and advancement opportunities. Work Environment You will work in a combination of outside and shop environments, often moving between field job sites and a production or fabrication shop. The role involves frequent use of welding equipment, grinders, mechanical tools, and related machinery, sometimes for extended periods of up to 12 hours a day when project demands require it. You will regularly lift, carry, push, or pull materials and perform tasks that involve stooping, kneeling, crawling, and climbing ladders or platforms. Safety is a core focus, and you will consistently use appropriate protective equipment and follow established safety protocols in all work areas.
