Job Description Job Title: Production Supervisor – EV Manufacturing Job Description This role leads a production group in an electric vehicle manufacturing environment, overseeing daily operations to deliver safe, high‑quality, cost‑effective output. The Production Supervisor manages a team of hourly employees, drives performance across safety, productivity, quality, and cost, and ensures that all manufacturing processes meet rigorous standards while supporting continuous improvement and new product launch activities. Responsibilities • Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations, adjusting plans as needed to meet production, cost, and schedule objectives., • Drive safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance with a strong focus on SPQRCE metrics., • Supervise, train, develop, and evaluate hourly team members, typically leading teams of 20 or more employees., • Build and sustain high‑performing teams by motivating employees and reinforcing standardized work methods., • Ensure team members receive adequate Job Instruction Training (JIT) and consistently apply standardized work., • Coach, counsel, and mentor other group leaders to strengthen overall leadership capability within the operation., • Lead and support Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) processes or similar operating systems to improve performance and consistency., • Serve as a resource for launch and pilot production activities, supporting new products and process introductions., • Apply lean and synchronous manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, reduce variation, and support continuous improvement., • Implement systems and corrective actions that prevent recurrence of known issues and drive built‑in quality initiatives., • Oversee production and quality inspections, ensuring that all processes and outputs meet required quality standards., • Maintain awareness of established quality standards and expectations, and ensure compliance across all operations., • Understand and consistently administer National and Local UAW Agreements to support a respectful and compliant work environment., • Promote and enforce safe work practices, including safety, ergonomics, and housekeeping, to maintain a hazard‑free workplace., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area that supports high‑volume, high‑precision manufacturing., • Ensure effective use of personnel, materials, and equipment to meet production schedules and cost targets., • Support continuous improvement in material flow and supply chain efficiency to enhance on‑time delivery and reduce waste., • Troubleshoot operational issues in real time and implement corrective actions to maintain output and quality., • Manage change and ambiguity in a fast‑paced environment, providing clear direction and communication to the team., • Use basic computer tools (email, word processing, data entry) to manage schedules, reports, and performance tracking., • Align team performance with established goals, drive accountability, and resolve conflict constructively within the workforce. Essential Skills • High school diploma or equivalent., • Experience leading teams in a manufacturing, production, or supply chain environment, typically supervising at least 20 employees, with a minimum of 2 years of leadership experience., • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, develop, and evaluate hourly employees in a high‑volume production setting., • Strong working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and variation reduction techniques., • Experience meeting production schedules, cost targets, and quality requirements in a manufacturing environment., • Ability to promote, enforce, and model safe work practices, including safety, ergonomics, and housekeeping standards., • Proven capability to build and sustain high‑performing teams and drive accountability for results., • Ability to manage change and ambiguity in a fast‑paced, complex production environment., • Basic computer skills, including email, word processing, and typing for documentation and communication., • Willingness to work rotating shifts and weekends in a 24/7 operation, including openness to all shifts., • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coach, counsel, and mentor team members and fellow leaders., • Ability to troubleshoot operational issues and implement effective corrective actions., • Knowledge of standardized work methods and Job Instruction Training (JIT) principles. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Associate or bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred and may be required for direct hire pathways., • Experience in a unionized environment, including familiarity with UAW agreements, is ideal but not required., • Familiarity with Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) or similar manufacturing operating systems., • Prior experience supporting launch or pilot production activities for new products or processes., • Experience in automotive manufacturing or other high‑volume, precision production environments., • Exposure to built‑in quality initiatives and methodologies such as DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) or Red X certification., • Knowledge of time‑keeping systems and workforce scheduling tools., • Experience in leadership development, project scheduling, and process improvement., • Experience in quality control, including inspections, variation reduction, and root‑cause problem solving., • Understanding of material flow and supply chain operations within a manufacturing plant., • Ability to work effectively in a continuous improvement culture focused on safety, quality, and on‑time delivery. Work Environment The role is based in a high‑volume components manufacturing facility that focuses on heat transfer components such as radiators, condensers, and heater cores, and is expanding into electric motor components (stator modules) for an advanced EV platform. The plant operates in a fast‑paced, unionized environment emphasizing precision production, continuous improvement, strict safety standards, and on‑time delivery to quality and cost targets. The facility runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with multiple shift options. One schedule rotates between 1st and 2nd shift (one week on days, the next week on afternoons), while another schedule is strictly 3rd shift. Typical shift times include 1st shift from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2nd shift from 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and 3rd shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Team members are expected to arrive approximately 30 minutes before shift start and be open to working 6–7 days per week, including regular weekend work, in line with rotating schedules. The environment is highly collaborative, safety‑driven, and focused on maintaining clean, organized, and hazard‑free work areas while meeting demanding production. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Lockport, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
