The Patient Flow Manager is responsible for the effective leadership, coordination, and oversight of a team of Patient Flow Coordinators and Patient Transporters within a hospital environment. This role ensures safe, efficient, and timely patient movement throughout the hospital campus while maintaining exceptional service standards and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities: • Provide leadership, coaching, and daily oversight to Patient Flow Coordinators, Dispatchers, and Patient Transporters, • Apply and reinforce knowledge of patient transport procedures, infection prevention protocols, patient safety standards, and proper body mechanics, • Oversee and manage dispatch operations, including workload distribution, prioritization of transport requests, and transporter utilization, • Monitor patient flow activities and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service levels, and patient experience, • Collaborate with clinical and support departments to coordinate patient transportation services and establish service-level expectations as needed, • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as organizational policies and standards, including those of The Joint Commission (TJC), OSHA, and CDC, • Recruit, onboard, train, develop, and evaluate staff, including Patient Flow Coordinators, Dispatchers, Constant Observers, Patient Transporters, and other support personnel, • Assist the Unit Director in achieving departmental goals, monitoring performance metrics, and maintaining budgetary objectives, • Support ongoing quality improvement initiatives and utilize operational data to drive performance improvements, • Address service issues, resolve operational challenges, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, • Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications: • Minimum of two years of management or supervisory experience in a hospital, healthcare operations, patient transport, patient sitter, logistics, or related environment preferred, • Demonstrated ability to analyze operational and statistical data, identify trends, and implement process improvements, • Strong leadership, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Windows-based operating systems, • Ability to troubleshoot software and technology-related issues and coordinate resolution with internal or external support teams, • Knowledge of hospital operations, patient flow processes, and patient transportation services preferred.
