Job DescriptionJob Title: Diesel MechanicJob Description This role focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining semi-trucks and trailers with a strong emphasis on diesel equipment. You will perform both preventative and reactive maintenance, complete required inspections, and accurately document all work using digital tools. This position is ideal for a hands-on technician who enjoys a dynamic shop environment and working on a wide variety of mechanical systems. Responsibilities • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain semi-trucks and trailers with a focus on diesel equipment., • Perform approximately 80% of daily work on diesel systems, including both preventative and reactive maintenance tasks., • Carry out trailer repairs such as wiring and repairing brake lights, replacing brakes, changing tires, and repairing hydraulic systems., • Perform DOT inspections on trucks and trailers and accurately document all findings., • Replace components such as water pumps and air conditioning systems as needed., • Retrieve work orders from an iPad and update all repair activities, parts usage, and completion status within the work order system., • Check out and track parts through the digital work order system to ensure accurate inventory and documentation., • Use welding equipment or torches when required for specific repairs or maintenance tasks., • Follow safety procedures and best practices while working with diesel systems, hydraulics, welding equipment, and other shop tools., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and care for company-provided uniforms, tools, and equipment.Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of hands-on diesel maintenance experience., • Proven experience working on brakes, including repair and replacement on trucks and trailers., • Relevant certifications to perform brake work in a commercial vehicle environment., • Practical hydraulic system experience, including troubleshooting and repair., • Trailer maintenance experience, including hydraulics and electrical troubleshooting., • Ability to perform DOT inspections and accurately document results., • Ability to read, interpret, and complete digital work orders using an iPad or similar device., • Experience changing tires, replacing water pumps, and servicing AC systems on heavy-duty vehicles., • Capability to perform basic welding or use torches safely when needed., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality workmanship.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Prior experience working in an open bay shop environment., • Comfort using digital tools and applications to manage work orders and parts., • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills., • Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair tasks in a fast-paced environment., • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and obtain additional certifications supported by the company.Why Work Here? The shop provides two weeks of uniforms, which are washed weekly, and includes an on-site changing room for convenience. Employees also have access to an on-site gym and clinic, creating a well-rounded and supportive work setting for daily operations.
