Job Description Batch Maker Role in Memphis, TN! Job Description This role prepares, mixes, and packages liquid batches according to detailed formulas on a 2nd shift schedule. You will review formulas, retrieve and measure ingredients, operate production equipment, and ensure each batch meets quality and safety standards. The position requires careful attention to detail, safe operation of forklifts and pallet jacks, and adherence to good manufacturing practices in a temperature-controlled, soap-making environment. Responsibilities • Review assigned formulas for chemical and packaging requirements and plan the proper sequence of reactions and mixing steps., • Complete assigned batches within the allotted time while maintaining quality and safety standards., • Retrieve ingredients listed on formulas, ensuring you use only quality control–approved materials., • Accurately measure ingredients and record any substitutions, over-pours, or adjustments, obtaining supervisor approval when required., • Follow good manufacturing guidelines throughout the batching, mixing, and packaging processes., • Monitor equipment and observe production throughout the batch process to ensure consistent product quality., • Safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks to gather and move raw materials as needed., • Take ownership of material availability by notifying the warehouse and supervisor of any missing raw materials required to complete batches., • Package approved batches and correctly label all finished product containers., • Stock supplies and label containers of raw materials when needed to support continuous production., • Use equipment that is in proper working condition and perform routine maintenance on equipment as required., • Clean, sanitize, and inspect tools, pumps, tanks, pipelines, and other production equipment to maintain hygienic conditions., • Complete end-of-day procedures, including restocking raw materials, performing housekeeping tasks, and controlling and documenting waste., • Maintain a clean and safe work area and adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including understanding the hazards of handling various chemicals., • Train new operators and mixers and assist in other areas of the plant as needed., • Perform other work-related duties as assigned to support overall plant operations., • Observe all safety rules and procedures while performing duties, including following lock-out tag-out procedures. Essential Skills • Basic math skills to accurately measure ingredients and record batch data., • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing or production, with liquid production highly preferred., • Experience with mixing, batching, blending, and compounding processes in a production environment., • Ability to safely operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move raw materials., • Familiarity with good manufacturing guidelines and safe handling of chemicals., • Ability to monitor and operate mixers, blenders, and related production machinery., • Strong attention to detail for following formulas, documenting changes, and labeling products accurately., • Ability to follow safety procedures, including lock-out tag-out practices. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Hands-on experience as a mixer, blender, batch maker, or machine operator in a production setting., • Background in soap making, liquid compounding, or similar chemical manufacturing processes., • Comfort working with strong fragrances and chemical scents., • Experience performing routine maintenance on production equipment., • Ability to train new operators and collaborate across different areas of the plant. Work Environment This role is based in a general manufacturing environment focused on soap making within a smaller plant. The facility is temperature controlled, providing a more comfortable production setting. You will work on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., operating mixers, blenders, pumps, tanks, pipelines, forklifts, and pallet jacks. The environment includes strong smells from soap fragrances and other chemical ingredients, and you will regularly clean, sanitize, and inspect production equipment. Safety procedures, including lock-out tag-out and chemical handling guidelines, are an integral part of daily operations, and appropriate work attire and protective equipment are expected to support a clean and safe workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MEMPHIS, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.36 - $21.36/hr.
